Doctor Oz Gun Ad Seems Like a Skit
Dr. Mehmet Oz put out a pro-gun ad ahead of the Republican primary in the Pennsylvania Senate race that takes place next Tuesday, May 17th. Social issues have been a liability for Oz during the campaign, since he has a long track record of being liberal on these topics and is only now changing his tune since he’s trying to win a Republican primary. In the ad, Oz is seen shooting a number of firearms with country music playing in the background. At one point, Oz shoots a clay pigeon, however it’s rather obvious that it may not have been him who landed the shot, since the camera cuts in a way that makes it unclear if it was actually him who hit the target. It’s so far unclear whether this will be enough to persuade right-wing voters in Pennsylvania to trust Oz on Second Amendment issues, but we’ll all find out next week after the primary results come in.
Trump Claims He "Lost" the 4 Cell Phones Just Subpoenaed
Donald Trump claims that he lost the four cell phones that have been subpoenaed by New York Attorney General Letitia James as part of the investigation into Trump’s alleged financial improprieties. Trump said about this, "I am not aware of its current location," and "I do not know its current whereabouts.” The former president insists that he has no other documents to turn over and that he doesn’t own or use a computer to run his business. Trump currently owes more than $100,000 in fines for contempt over refusing to hand over records and comply with investigators. It’s not at all believable that Trump lost these devices and it’s more plausible that he deliberately got rid of them. The ex-POTUS hasn’t ever had to face consequences over anything he’s done, so he must feel like this is a good enough excuse to get away with not cooperating. Sadly, these investigations appear to be going nowhere and all Trump has to do is run out the clock on them.

OOPS: SCOTUS Leaker Increasingly Seems to Be Right-Winger
Following last week’s leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion about overturning Roe vs. Wade, there were a number of right wingers claiming the leaker was a progressive and that they should be prosecuted for what they did. Ted Cruz, for example, said “the reason it was leaked is some left wing, presumably law clerk wanted to put pressure on the five justices that presumably are in the majority right now.” There is now more evidence to suggest that the leaker was a right winger who leaked the opinion to put pressure on the conservative justices not to change their minds before the official decision comes out. Nina Totenberg, who’s a longtime Supreme Court reporter, said about this, “the leading theory is a conservative clerk who was afraid that one of the conservatives might be persuaded by Chief Justice Roberts to join the much more moderate opinion [leaked the document].” We still don’t know for sure who leaked the draft opinion and what their motives were, but it’s faulty to assume without any doubt that it was a liberal clerk or justice.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump DOESN'T DENY He Tried to Bomb Mexico in Deranged Letter
Over the weekend, it surfaced that Donald Trump wanted to bomb the Mexican drug cartels during his time as president, per a new book from Trump’s former Defense Secretary Mark Esper. Trump elected to release a Q&A in response to this allegation along with other ones levied in the book and in Esper’s 60 Minutes interview. The statement said in part, “Q: During a June 1, 2020 meeting at White House the cabinet was debating what to do about ‘protests’ and ‘civil unrest,’ Mark Esper says President Trump wanted to shoot some of the protesters in the legs.” Trump responded, “this is a complete lie, and 10 witnesses can back it up. Mark Esper was weak and totally ineffective, and because of it, I had to run the military.” Specifically about the bombing the drug cartels comment, Trump responded “no comment,” which is basically an admission that he did say it. There is much to criticize Mark Esper for, especially since he held off on releasing this information until he could sell a book, but he is certainly more trustworthy on these topics than Donald Trump is.
