Trump: People arresting me had tears in their eyes
Failed former President Donald Trump sat down for an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson a week after he was arrested in connection with the Stormy Daniels hush money payment. Trump outrageously claimed during the interview that people at the Manhattan courthouse were apologizing and crying uncontrollably while they were processing and arraigning him. He said, “I’ll tell you, people were crying. People that work there — professionally work there — that have no problems putting in murderers, and they see everybody. It’s tough. Tough place. And they were crying. They were actually crying. They said, ‘I’m sorry.’ They’d say, ‘2024 sir, 2024’ and tears are pouring down their eyes.” Of course, Trump is likely lying about this claim and there is no evidence to corroborate this story. Furthermore, Tucker Carlson didn’t provide any pushback during the interview whatsoever. If we’re to take Trump’s word for it, there’s just something about him that causes people to cry uncontrollably when they’re in his presence.
Alvin Bragg sues Jim Jordan to get him to stop interfering in Trump prosecution
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is suing Republican Representative Jim Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee over a subpoena issued by Jordan for former assistant prosecutor Mark Pomerantz to testify. Pomerantz resigned from the Manhattan DA's office last year and accused Bragg of killing the investigation into former President Donald Trump. Pomerantz and the former DA, Cyrus Vance, allegedly drafted indictments against Trump but were prevented from proceeding by Bragg. Jordan hoped Pomerantz's testimony would prove that Bragg had weaponized the Manhattan DA's office against Trump, but it's unlikely that Pomerantz would confirm this. Instead, he would probably say that Bragg should have gone after Trump harder. However, the testimony is unlikely to take place, as Bragg has strong legal grounds to challenge the subpoena since New York state law forbids turning over documents related to ongoing investigations to third parties.

Nikki Haley trashes Trump and DeSantis in memo to donors
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley sent a memo to wealthy Republican donors asking for money while trashing her two chief opponents, Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump. The memo attacks Trump for being consumed by past grievances and offering no forward-looking vision for America. It also criticizes DeSantis for making one misstep after another and being “not ready for prime time.” Haley's pitch to donors is that she is the drama-free path forward and the real deal. Haley has raised $11 million in the first six weeks of her campaign, outpacing Trump's $6-9 million in the first quarter of the year. Despite not performing well in polls, Haley is doing well in terms of campaigning, with name recognition and fundraising efforts. She is traveling, doing speeches, and taking on Trump, showing donors that there is an alternative to the former president not named Ron DeSantis.
From yesterday’s show:
INSANE: Republicans embrace Trump’s plan to bomb Mexico
Republicans are warming up to Donald Trump’s idea of using the United States military to fight against drug cartels in Mexico. They are discussing sending special forces and using cyber warfare to target cartel leaders. Representatives Dan Crenshaw and Mike Waltz, both Republicans, have introduced a bill seeking authorization for the use of military force against the cartels. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas has also said that he is open to sending US troops into Mexico to target drug lords without the country's permission. The plan is to apply the terrorist label to caravans of migrants approaching the southern border and to use military force against them under the guise of fighting drug smuggling. This move seems less about fighting the drug trade and more about creating a show of force on the southern border and giving the Republican Party the ability to start yet another war.
