Ted Cruz Confronted by Journalists, RUNS AWAY
A British Sky News journalist confronted Texas Senator Ted Cruz yesterday about the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas and Cruz was baffled to the point where he had no choice but to run away. The journalist asked Cruz if this was the appropriate time to reform gun laws in the United States. The Texas Senator tried brushing it off by saying, “you know it’s easy to go to politics,” inferring that now is not the right time to be talking about these changes. Of course, for these right wingers, there’s never an appropriate time to be discussing gun control measures since mass shootings in the United States happen all the time and we’re constantly in the wake of one. The reporter then asked Cruz why this problem seems only to exist in America, which Cruz took as an insult against the United States and used as a justification to walk away from the exchange. People like Ted Cruz need to be voted out of office because for as long as they’re in charge, no substantive change will be made on these issues.
Beto O'Rourke Confronts TX Gov, Marched Out by Cops
Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke confronted incumbent Governor Greg Abbott about the recent school shooting in Uvalde and it led to him being marched out of the room by police officers. O’Rourke has long been a champion for gun safety regulations and he appeared legitimately furious with the Republicans’ unwillingness to do anything about the issue. After providing a few remarks, Abbott was ready to turn the microphone over to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick when Beto interrupted from the crowd. This prompted Abbott’s entourage to shout him down and say he’s “out of line and an embarrassment” for making the shooting a “political issue.” O’Rourke kept speaking his mind and was ultimately escorted out by police officers. Outside of the building, Beto spoke to the media and said that for all the talk about mass shootings being a mental health issue, the state ranks last in the nation in mental health services. Some are calling this an example of Beto grandstanding to get votes in the upcoming governor’s race, but he was absolutely right to do what he did to draw attention to how Republicans are utterly ineffective on this issue.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump & TX Gov to Speak at NRA Convention After Shooting, Guns Not Allowed
The NRA is having a convention later this week in Houston, and the gun manufacturer organization is not at all deterred by the recent mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York. Certainly the NRA will double down about their positions as they always do following a high profile shooting. In fact, these mass causality events are often very profitable for the gun manufacturers, as right wingers get scared that regulations are coming so they run to their nearest gun stores to purchase firearms. Former President Donald Trump, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott will all be speaking at the event. Ironically, guns won’t be allowed during Trump’s speech which contradicts the NRA’s message that more guns in the hands of more people make everyone safer. These people have no shame, as if they did, they would recognize now is not the best time to have their event. They would also be in support of adding more basic gun safety measures that the vast majority of Americans and gun owners want.
From yesterday’s show:
They Voted Against Gas Price Relief, Baby Formula Funding
The Republican Party is simultaneously blaming Joe Biden for everything going wrong with the economy and blocking any possible solutions. The latest examples have to do with high gas prices and the baby formula shortage. The House recently passed a bill to prevent gasoline price gouging and zero Republicans voted in favor of it. The lower chamber also recently passed a $28 million bill to provide emergency spending for baby formula production and only 19 Republicans voted in favor of it with 192 voting against. The Republican Party wants the American people to suffer on these issues because they see a political benefit to the problems getting worse so they can blame Joe Biden and the Democrats and take back control of Congress in the midterms.
