The U.S. jobs market is weakening. The November ADP report showed a loss of 32,000 private-sector jobs, far below the expected 40,000. Most losses hit small businesses, while medium and large companies saw modest gains. Sectors like manufacturing, information, and professional services saw declines and wage growth has slowed.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claimed that red states are more affordable than blue states and suggested Americans could save money by moving. While costs are generally higher in blue states, this ignores higher wages, better education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Residents can afford the higher prices and often receive better services, but Bessent oversimplifies the issue to mislead his audience.
Donald Trump and the Republican Party face historic polling challenges ahead of the 2026 midterms. Gallup shows Trump’s approval at 36%, with only 84% of Republicans supporting him. Independent approval is 25% and Democrat approval 3%. Support on key issues like Ukraine and healthcare is weak, and congressional approval is also low.
Steve Bannon is promoting the idea of a Trump third term in 2028, claiming there’s a “plan” to bypass the 22nd Amendment. He frames Trump as divinely chosen and psuhes loyalty over legality, but some say he’s just trolling for attention.
Although Pete Hegseth, JD Vance, and Stephen Miller are portrayed as exemplars of toughness and independence, in actuality, MAGA’s “alpha male” culture is mostly hypocrisy. Men celebrated as icons show submission to Trump rather than true independence. Alpha status to the right-wing is now defined by loyalty to Trump rather than strength or principle.
Kayleigh McEnany claimed on Fox News that Trump had brought inflation, from 9% under Biden to 3%, suggesting he was responsible for the improvement. In reality, inflation peaked at 9.1% in June 2022 under Biden, but it had already fallen to around 3% by mid-2023 while Biden was still president.
Finally, Costco is suing Trump over tariffs imposed using emergency powers. The tariffs raised costs for American companies and consumers instead of punishing China or other foreign governments. Costco initially absorbed the added costs but is now seeking refunds. Other major corporations are joining similar challenges, as the Supreme Court reviews whether Trump’s use of emergency powers to impose tariffs was legal.
