Measles Outbreaks on the Rise Thanks to Anti-Vaxxers
Anti-vaccine sentiment for COVID-19 is now affecting other vaccines and causing parents to become hesitant about getting their children vaccinated against other diseases. This has led to outbreaks of diseases that should be under control, given we have adequate resources to deal with them. A report from November found that a measles outbreak in Ohio sickened over a dozen unvaccinated children, 75% of whom became hospitalized. The herd immunity threshold for measles is 95% and when it drops below that, outbreaks can start to occur. If anti-vax sentiment persists, it could make it so that populations all across the country don’t have enough people immunized to prevent outbreaks. This is a devastating result of the vaccine hesitancy and cynicism that has affected the country especially since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Republican's Wife Arrested for 23 Fraudulent Votes for Husband
Yet another Republican has been caught allegedly committing voter fraud in an attempt to make up for the widespread election fraud they believe Democrats to be doing. Kim Fong Taylor, the wife of a Republican elected official, has been arrested for allegedly committing voter fraud by casting 23 votes for her husband in the 2020 election. The indictment against Taylor includes 26 counts of providing false information, 3 counts of fraudulent registration, and 23 counts of fraudulent voting, each of which carries a maximum five-year prison sentence. For all the talk Republicans engage in on the topic of voter fraud, there is no evidence to suggest Democrats are doing it disproportionately, and in fact, there are plenty of cases of GOP voters committing this exact crime.

Twitter Files Debunked: Trump Got Special Treatment
The investigation by the January 6th House Select Committee found that social media platforms like Twitter did indeed play a role in the 2020 election but not in the way that Republicans claim. The panel found that Twitter and other platforms gave preferential treatment to Donald Trump and far-right extremists out of fear of backlash, contradicting the narrative promoted by right-wingers that social media platforms were targeting conservatives unfairly. For months now, the right has been complaining about undue influence by social media sites to interfere in the 2020 election in ways that would help the Biden campaign. But this report provides evidence to the contrary. The evidence collected by the committee was written up in a 122-page memo that was circulated among the committee members, but the leaders of the committee decided not to delve into the topic in their final report. Sadly, this story is getting far less attention than the “Twitter files” did and people will still believe social media sites were helping the left at every turn.

GOP Senator Tries Blaming Democrats for Deficit, Implodes
Republican Senator John Kennedy went on Fox News this week and tried making the case that the Democrats are responsible for the $31 trillion national debt. Kennedy said, “if you're going to have a party, you have to pay the band. If you're going to borrow money, you have to pay it back. That's true as a moral principle and a principle of practicality. And you don't have to be a senior at Cal Tech to figure that out. Now, here's the truth part: Congress had a spending party, more specifically, the House Democrats, not the House Republicans.” Kennedy is dead wrong about Democrats spending more than Republicans. Democrats have been falsely accused of being the “irresponsible spenders” and running up the debt and deficit, when in fact, Republican presidents have run up larger deficits than Democrats over the last four decades. Republicans have a long track record of running up deficits to pay for their tax cuts and wars but then complain whenever Dems want to spend money in ways that would actually help the American people.
