The August jobs report delivered just 21,000 new jobs, a sharp miss that signals a weakening economy. Rather than address the disappointing numbers or propose solutions, Donald Trump flooded Truth Social with rants. He lashed out at Jerry Nadler and faulted Jerome Powell for not cutting rates, leaning on distractions and personal vendettas instead of confronting the economic reality.
Trump’s meetings with top tech CEOs revealed more spectacle than substance. Hosting Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, and Sam Altman, he prompted public praise while appearing bored and disengaged. The orchestrated flattery projected dominance, cultivated loyalty, and signaled that even the most powerful figures in technology were expected to defer to him.
Questions about Trump’s focus and comprehension persist. During a press interaction, he appeared confused and needed Melania Trump to whisper a question about speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Instead of answering directly, he veered off-topic, boasting about “settling seven wars.”
Trump’s unpredictability is reshaping global alliances. NATO allies question U.S. reliability, Middle Eastern powers cooperate independently, and China and India coordinate to counter American influence. Erratic policies, from tariffs to Israel, are prompting countries to plan autonomously, positioning America as a common adversary and increasing the risk of long-term isolation.
EPA head Lee Zeldin stated he supports “whatever President Trump is advocating for” when asked about green energy. This blind loyalty ignores legitimate debates on renewable energy economics, environmental impact, and long-term efficiency, reducing complex policy to unquestioning allegiance.
Meanwhile, public dissent is rising. The “No Kings” protest movement plans nationwide action on October 18 against Trump’s authoritarian measures. Organizers aim for mass participation, highlighting issues like militarized domestic forces, immigrant detention, and attacks on democratic norms. Trump thrives on adoration and control, making widespread, uncontrolled dissent particularly humiliating for him.
On today’s bonus show:
U.S. job growth slowed sharply from July to August, adding only 22,000 jobs, with unemployment rising slightly to 4.3%. And the Trump administration seeks to restrict transgender people’s gun rights, a minority issue that conflicts with traditional Republican principles.
