Trump REFUSES to Condemn Putin in Sick Fox News Interview
Donald Trump went on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show yesterday and he once again passed on the opportunity to criticize Russian President Vladimir Putin. Hannity teed up a softball for Trump, asking him if he believes Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is the “evil of our time.” The former president responded by saying history would not look back kindly at the United States and NATO for not stopping these tragedies from occurring. This is a curious answer from Trump, since he claimed to be the peaceful president who kept America out of wars. He went on in his answer to criticize NATO more broadly and to take credit for “rebuilding” the organization. Previously, Trump called Vladimir Putin “smart,” “savvy,” and “genius” for his invasion of Ukraine and now when given an opportunity to condemn him once and for all, he passed on it and criticized America and its allies instead.
SHOCK POLL: Biden Approval Collapses to 33%
A new Quinnipiac University poll found that Joe Biden has a 33% job approval rating. This is a disastrous number for the president and it comes from a reputable polling organization. In contrast, 54% said they disapprove of Biden and 13% offered no opinion. This is a tie for the Quinnipiac low point for the president with January 12th also delivering a 33% number. Part of what is contributing to Biden’s low numbers is that only 39% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The RealClearPolitics average, which aggregates recent polls, is more optimistic for Biden, at 40%. However, this is a long way down from the mid-50s approval the president enjoyed during the early part of his presidency. Biden’s current approval rating in the RCP average is approximately where Trump’s was at this point during the ex-POTUS’s administration. Things will have to turn around soon for Biden if the Democrats are going to have a chance at holding onto the House and Senate in November.

Trump GLEEFUL That Nancy Pelosi Has COVID
Donald Trump appears thrilled that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has come down with COVID-19. Trump spoke at an event this week and said in a sarcastic tone, “we want her to get well, right? Everybody want her to get well? Alright, nah, we want her to get well. She’s got the China virus. I don’t know if it’s a strong case or not but she’s got it.” Trump must have known the crowd would have responded in the way that they did, which was to get hysterical and root for Pelosi’s misfortune. Some in attendance blurted out “lock her up,” despite the fact she hasn’t been charged with or investigated for anything. Back in the pre-vaccine era when Republicans like Trump were routinely catching the virus, many right wingers accused the left of wishing disease on people they disagree with politically. While that wasn’t true at the time, now it’s clearly true for this Trump crowd given what they wish to see happen to Nancy Pelosi.

DISASTROUS Launch for CNN+, Already Downsizing
CNN launched a streaming service this month called “CNN+” and it’s off to a miserable start. For six dollars a month, subscribers get access to content like shows about Anderson Cooper’s parenting life and Jake Tapper’s book club. Unfortunately for CNN, the service has been drawing fewer than 10,000 daily viewers despite an investment of over $100 million. This puts into doubt whether CNN+ will be able to continue, if layoffs are soon to come, and if the service will merge with something else owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. It also greatly puts into question why the executives at CNN thought this would be a success, since it’s not like the regular version of the network is getting flooded with viewers even though it’s essentially free to watch. This goes to show that it’s not as easy to break through in the new media landscape as some of these bigwigs at CNN may have believed.
