Trump's New Spokeswoman Sets New Record for Delusional & Dangerous
Donald Trump’s spokesperson Liz Harrington went on “The Water Cooler” with David Brody to respond to Joe Biden’s speech last night about the importance of protecting American democracy. Harrington said about the speech, “[Democrats] don’t have a chance unless they cheat. As you documented very well, there’s so many cases already of just irregularities and misdeeds and evidence of the corruption in our election process and that’s the only hope that they have. Because the fact is, Democrats do not like democracy. They don’t want the voters to decide, they want to decide for the voters.” According to Liz Harrington, if Democrats win next week, that means they cheated, and if they lose to Republicans, the elections are fair. This is called a priori reasoning. Liz isn’t waiting to see what happens on Election Day and assessing whether there is actually cheating going on in the midterms. She’s making the theoretical case that if Democrats win they cheated by definition. The right is continuing down its authoritarian slide and there’s no telling how long it will take the country to recover from this.
Biden Devastates MAGA, Labels Trump Enemy of Democracy
Joe Biden gave a stunning speech last night defending democracy ahead of the 2022 midterms. The president made what is supposed to be an uncontroversial case, which is that democracy is a good thing and that we should stand up to people who want to overturn it when their preferred candidates lose. Such a speech shouldn’t be necessary in the United States in 2022, but because of the direction Republicans have gone in over the last few years, it was indeed a good idea for the president to do this. Biden pointed out the origin of the distrust, saying, “American democracy is under attack because the defeated former President of the United States refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. He refuses to accept the will of the people. He refuses to accept the fact that he lost. He has abused his power and put the loyalty to himself before loyalty to the Constitution.” Everything Biden said on this topic was accurate, but it didn’t stop Republicans and right-wing media outlets from getting outraged since Biden was drawing attention to their new post-election power-grabbing strategy.

SCOTUS SUCKS TRUMP, Blocks Release of Taxes
The right-wing Supreme Court has bailed out Donald Trump by preventing his tax returns from being turned over to the House Ways and Means Committee. The House panel wants Trump’s tax returns as part of a probe into the former president’s tax law compliance. Trump has fought it every step of the way, and having the Supreme Court shut it down was the last arrow he had in his quiver. The decision this week was to put a temporary hold on the tax returns being sent to the House so the legality of such a move can be assessed. Now, Trump’s team will just need to run out the clock until 2023 when it’s anticipated by many that Republicans will take over the House of Representatives, ending this investigation. There are probably several reasons why Trump doesn’t want to turn over his tax returns, and it’s entirely possible we’ll now never figure out why he was so concerned about them being made public.

SHOCK COLLAPSE: Republicans Leading House AND Senate 2022
Republicans are building on their odds of winning the House and Senate with less than a week to go before the 2022 midterms. For the first time in many months, Republicans are the favorites to win the Senate. What was at one time a 71% chance that Democrats would win the upper chamber according to FiveThirtyEight has shifted to just 48% with Republicans now having a 52% chance at taking over. The House forecast is also going in the right’s direction with the GOP taking a commanding 84% probability of winning the House. This is terrible news so close to the election but not altogether surprising. It seems as though Democratic odds peaked in the summer because of the backlash over the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. In the months since, other issues have taken the forefront, and it’s making the Democrats the underdogs.
