Trump BEGS Congress for help as third arrest imminent
Former President Donald Trump finds himself in a precarious situation as ongoing investigations continue and potential indictments are on the horizon. Trump is coming across as desperate and fearful, and now he’s pleading with Congress to intervene and prevent his third arrest. He said in a video posted to Truth Social, “Congress, if you will, please investigate the political witch hunts against me currently being brought by the corrupt DOJ and FBI who are totally out of control. They don't go after Biden with all of his corruption, the most corrupt president in history but they keep coming after me from the day I came down the escalator.” This statement by Trump stands in contrast to his initial belief that the indictments could strengthen his political image by portraying him as a threat. Trump's polling numbers have not significantly suffered, but as the charges pile up, it becomes more likely that he won’t effectively be able to run a successful campaign.
We interviewed soaking wet Trump supporters, DISASTER
TDPS correspondent Adam Mockler interviewed Trump supporters at a rainy Trump rally in an attempt to engage with them substantively, but the conversations revealed deeply entrenched beliefs and misinformation. One supporter listed election fraud, getting Trump back in office, and stopping Marxism as the top issues facing the country, before struggling to name a single prominent Marxist leader in the US. Another Trump supporter expressed strong anti-trans views and was skeptical about Biden's efforts to address drug imports from China. Lastly, another Trumpist suggested Obama controls Biden's presidency, referencing the widely debunked conspiracy that Obama was not born in the US. Despite Mockler's efforts, the interviews highlight the challenge of bridging ideological divides and addressing misinformation among these Trump supporters, illustrating the importance of critical thinking and media literacy in today's political landscape.
From yesterday’s show:
DISASTER: DeSantis loses 42% of support, campaign in freefall
Ron DeSantis's presidential campaign is in freefall, losing 42% of its support in the Republican primary race, according to polling data from RealClearPolitics. His peak polling was at just over 31% in mid-January, but it gradually dropped to the high twenties in early March, mid-twenties in early April, around 20% in late May, and now stands at 18%, the lowest in over a year. Many now view DeSantis's campaign as facing insurmountable challenges, given the continuous loss of support and inability to effectively challenge Donald Trump. However, some argue that despite the decline, DeSantis is still the strongest second-place contender in the early-voting states and could potentially take the lead if any unforeseen developments impact Donald Trump's candidacy. The uniqueness of this primary lies in Trump's unparalleled support among Republican voters, with many speculating that more indictments won’t hurt his standing. While it may appear that DeSantis's campaign is likely dead, the unprecedented circumstances and unpredictable nature of the race leave room for uncertainty and a potential DeSantis comeback.
From yesterday’s show:
Not a SINGLE STATE allows "post-birth abortions"
The claim that some states allow "post-birth abortions" is a corrosive and false narrative gaining ground among the American right-wing. This term is a linguistic contradiction as abortion involves terminating a pregnancy, which does not continue after birth. In reality, killing an infant after birth is infanticide, which is illegal in all 50 states. Late-term abortions are exceedingly rare and typically occur in cases of life-threatening complications or fatal anomalies. The concept of "post-birth abortion" is not supported by any state's laws, making it a mere distraction from the genuine complexities surrounding abortion. While extremely uncommon, late-term abortions are not situations where women casually change their minds, and most OB-GYNs attest that they have never encountered such requests except in the case of non-viable pregnancies with extraordinary anomalies. The focus on "post-birth abortion" misrepresents the realities of abortion and is a bad-faith attempt by right-wingers to argue against allowing abortion at any stage of pregnancy.
