Terrified Trump struggles to read, makes MAJOR mistake
Donald Trump spoke outside of the courtroom on the day of closing arguments in his New York hush money case while simultaneously claiming he wasn’t allowed to speak because of the gag order. Trump did his normal routine of reading articles from right-wing sources claiming that he did nothing wrong and should not be convicted. Trump notably at one point struggled to read the words on the page, and bizarrely uttered, “Trump did not have a fecal legal duty.” Today the jury began its deliberations meaning “verdict watch” has begun. A verdict could come by the end of the week, but the process could also drag on for weeks before the jury reaches its decision.
They're saying golfer suicide is a vaccine death. There's one little problem
The tragic death of golfer Grayson Murray has been exploited by anti-vaxxers, who baselessly attribute his suicide to COVID-19 vaccination. Despite Murray's own statements indicating he was unvaccinated and skeptical of the vaccine's safety, conspiracy theorists swiftly pointed fingers at vaccination. This exploitation highlights a disturbing trend where every tragedy becomes fodder for reinforcing preconceived beliefs, even in the absence of evidence. Claims that young people are “dying suddenly” at disproportionate rates and Bret Weinstein's assertion of 17 million vaccine-related deaths are completely unsubstantiated. The broader issue at hand is the dangerous prevalence of anti-science sentiment. Murray's death serves as a poignant reminder of the consequences of such ideologies and the urgent need for critical thinking and evidence-based discourse.
From yesterday’s show:
Deranged Trump Memorial Day message reminds us he doesn't care about the troops
Joe Biden and Donald Trump commemorated the Memorial Day weekend in vastly different ways. While President Biden spent time with military families, participated in wreath-laying ceremonies, and spoke about the sacrifices of American service members, former President Trump's Memorial Day message drew controversy for its disrespectful tone and lack of recognition for the day's significance. This should come as no surprise, as Trump considers fallen military members “suckers and losers” according to his longest-serving chief of staff John Kelly. This sentiment is further underscored by Trump's derogatory remarks about Senator John McCain and Republican opposition to measures aimed at providing healthcare and benefits to veterans. Ultimately, the comparison between Biden’s and Trump's Memorial Day observances sheds light on the complexities of honoring and caring for service members and challenges simplistic narratives about patriotism and military support.
From yesterday’s show:
Republican amendment would stop Dems from winning ANY TX state election
Texas Republicans are considering an amendment that would significantly impact state elections by requiring any candidate for statewide office to win a majority of the counties in Texas, totaling 254. The amendment aims to tilt the electoral landscape in favor of Republicans, who typically dominate the state's rural counties. By mandating a county-based victory condition, it effectively sidelines the electoral influence of densely populated urban areas where Democrats tend to perform well. The amendment's proponents argue that it would ensure fair representation across the state. However, critics view it as a thinly veiled attempt to disenfranchise Democratic voters and maintain Republican control. Legal scholars question the legality of such a measure, as it may violate the principle of “one person, one vote” and the Voting Rights Act. This proposal echoes the debate over the national Electoral College system, which also skews voting power based on state population sizes.
