Chris Christie comes out swinging, SLAMS Trump at town hall
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has launched his 2024 presidential campaign and he has wasted no time attacking the Republican Party frontrunner, Donald Trump. Christie's recent town hall highlighted his candidness, as he criticized Trump on many things including his leadership style and his uncontrollable lying. During the town hall, Christie said, “a lonely self-consumed, self-serving. mirror hog is not a leader. Well, let me be clear, in case I have not been already. The person I am talking about who is obsessed with the mirror, who never admits a mistake, who never admits a fault, and who always finds someone else and something else to blame for whatever goes wrong but finds every reason to take credit for anything that goes right is Donald Trump.” Christie's straightforwardness comes in stark contrast with the other Republican candidates who either avoid criticizing Trump altogether or do so in limited, inconsequential ways. If Christie continues campaigning with this approach, he still may be a longshot to win the Republican nomination, but he may succeed in damaging Trump’s chances at taking the White House again.
Trump triggered, attacks Chris Christie's weight (Trump is obese)
Donald Trump responded to Chris Christie’s attacks against him by going after his weight, which really doesn’t make sense because by all accounts Trump is also obese. Trump posted to Truth Social, “How many times did Chris Christie use the word SMALL? Does he have a psychological problem with SIZE? Actually, his speech was SMALL, and not very good. It rambled all over the place, and nobody had a clue of what he was talking about. Hard to watch, boring, but that’s what you get from a failed Governor (New Jersey) who left office with a 7% approval rating and then got run out of New Hampshire. This time, it won’t be any different!” Trump also posted a photoshopped picture of Christie’s town hall, showing him holding up food in front of a buffet. Despite Trump also being obese, his supporters won’t notice or care about the contradiction since they are perfectly fine with double standards.
From yesterday’s show:
Nikki Haley blames teen suicide on trans kids in locker rooms
During a recent CNN town hall, Nikki Haley made controversial statements blaming teen suicides on transgender girls competing in girls’ sports and changing in their locker rooms. However, there is of course no evidence supporting the notion that trans girls are leading to higher suicidal ideation among teenage girls. In fact, studies show that LGBT students face higher rates of reported suicide attempts compared to their heterosexual and cisgender peers. The real causes of teen suicide are often attributed to factors such as concerns about the world, lack of connection, bullying, and unrestricted access to social media. Haley's remarks are an attempt to appeal to a conservative base and undermine the dignity of trans individuals. Her focus on anti-woke and transgender issues reflects a desperate search for relevance as her campaign struggles in the polls.
From yesterday’s show:
Confused right-wingers wildly claim economy is terrible
Right-wingers have claimed ever since Joe Biden took office that the economy is in shambles. But looking at the metrics, it’s difficult to make that case. GDP growth has been stable but unremarkable, showing no signs of crisis. The unemployment rate is currently one of the lowest in history, contradicting claims of an economic disaster. Inflation, though higher recently, has been declining and aligns with predictions. Consumer confidence, while opinion-based, has been recovering from pandemic lows. The stock market has shown healthy returns with no major concerns. Wage growth has been sustained and among the highest levels in decades. The trade deficit, although still present, is not surprising given the nature of the American economy. Interest rates have increased but remain below historical highs. Overall, based on these metrics, there is no strong evidence of an economic crisis. If a Republican like Donald Trump was currently in office, these same right-wingers would be claiming we were living under the best economy of our lifetimes.
