Visibly confused Trump panders to Christians, goes bad quick
Donald Trump appeared on the show “FlashPoint” in an attempt to appeal to Christian voters and portray himself as a religious person. But true to form, Trump's responses were incoherent and vague, demonstrating his lack of religious faith. It came across as similar to Hillary Clinton's Southern drawl, which she used when speaking to Southern crowds, even though it would disappear when she was speaking before a general audience. During the interview, Trump criticized the left for being anti-religion, which of course, isn’t true. Progressives don’t want to see religious views enter the political arena and want to preserve the separation of church and state, but that doesn’t mean they’re anti-religious. Trump also criticized the Johnson Amendment, which prohibits tax-exempt organizations from endorsing political candidates, stating that it is unfair to religious institutions. Ultimately, many Christian voters watching this show will be fooled into believing Trump is actually religious and will vote for him again in 2024 as they did in 2016 and 2020.
Tucker Carlson's latest replacement really embarrasses himself
Lawrence Jones, who is filling in for Tucker Carlson’s former time slot on Fox News, is off to a really bad start in auditioning for the primetime role. Jones clearly seems to be ill-prepared for the spotlight and is regularly making a fool of himself on air. The latest example is when Jones did an interview with Democratic strategist Julian Epstein, in which he made a confusing point about immigration policies and black Americans that was incredibly hard to follow. In another segment, Jones interviewed Lee Fang about the failure of First Republic Bank and he tied it back to a statement about diversity and minorities, which sounded very confusing. Time will tell if Jones is ultimately chosen as Tucker’s permanent replacement or if they’ll go with Jesse Watters, Brian Kilmeade, or someone else entirely. But it seems like Lawrence Jones is not ready for the high-profile role he has been given and is struggling to make sense of complex issues on live television.
From yesterday’s show:
Bernie: Confiscate all income over $999 million
Senator Bernie Sanders proposed the idea of a 100% tax on income over $1 billion while doing an interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace. This means that all income over the billion-dollar mark would be confiscated, which some argue would be an effective way to tax the ultra-rich. However, the specifics of the proposal are not entirely clear, and it's uncertain whether Sanders is proposing a wealth tax or an income tax. There is no historical precedent for a 100% marginal tax rate, but some governments have implemented very high tax rates on the wealthy. Achieving the goal of collecting more taxes from the ultra-rich is popular among the American people, and various mechanisms could be used, such as raising the top marginal income tax rate or imposing a wealth tax. The Forbes billionaire list states that there are currently 735 billionaires in the United States, but not all of them earn a billion dollars per year, and many receive income in ways that are not subject to income tax rates. Despite the complexities of taxing the ultra-rich, achieving the goal of collecting more taxes from them is considered relatively uncontroversial among the American people.
From yesterday’s show:
Marjorie Taylor Greene: Ban Pornhub because of Hunter Biden
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for the pornography website Pornhub to be banned partly due to Hunter Biden's alleged involvement with the site. The remarks were made at a keynote address to the Lincoln Reagan Dinner in Putnam County, Ohio. Greene claimed that Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has not only used the website but also posted sex videos on it. Greene said it was “disgusting” and “should be illegal” that such websites exist. She said, “Hunter Biden used to have multiple accounts on this Pornhub pornography sex website. And these aren’t accounts where he could go watch pornography, these are accounts where he posted his sex videos.” What Greene seems to be conveniently forgetting is that Hunter Biden is not the president and is in fact a private citizen. Her stance on this issue also appears to contradict her party's position on regulation and free-market principles, but of course, Republicans never can manage to stay consistent on these issues.
