Swollen Trump's CPAC speech was most dangerous in history
The 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) took place over the weekend in Washington, D.C. and the entire event was held under the shadow of a sexual assault accusation against its organizer, Matt Schlapp. Donald Trump gave a long and delusional speech to close out the conference. Trump criticized Republicans and claimed he had finished some wars during his presidency, which is a claim he loves to make but isn’t in fact true. Trump also mentioned that people had told him that he would be reinstated as president within a few weeks after the 2020 election, and he criticized the system for not allowing that to happen. The former president signaled that the primary would be a dirty affair, as he went after Republicans such as Mitch McConnell, Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, and Paul Ryan. Trump's speech was a mix of scary moments and lies, but the biggest takeaway was his continued control over the Republican Party and his status as the candidate to beat in the 2024 Republican primary.
CPAC crowd SILENT when Nikki Haley demands cognitive tests
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley spoke at CPAC over the weekend and got an unfavorable response to her suggestion that candidates for political office over 75 should have to take a cognitive test. When Haley suggested the test at CPAC, the crowd, which was very pro-Trump, went silent. Only one person clapped when she specifically mentioned that this would apply to Joe Biden, who is 80. It’s clear that most in the crowd understood the message that this would also apply to Donald Trump, as he’s currently 76. So far, Haley's campaign against Trump has been centered around her being younger, a minority, and a woman, and this test idea is one of the very few policy measures Haley has introduced as part of her campaign. This embarrassing moment is a reminder that this is Trump's party, despite other candidates like Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy also getting into the race.

Fox Host admits he's been SILENCED on 2020 fraud lawsuit
Fox News host Howard Kurtz has admitted that he is not allowed to talk about the Dominion lawsuit against Fox News. Dominion is suing Fox News over its role in promoting conspiracy theories about Dominion voting machines in the aftermath of the 2020 election. Kurtz said on air last week, “some of you have been asking why I'm not covering the Dominion voting machines lawsuit against Fox involving the unproven claims of election fraud in 2020. And it's absolutely a fair question. Yes, I believe I should be covering it. It's a major media story given my role here at Fox. But the company has decided that as part of the organization being sued, I can't talk about it or write about it, at least for now. I strongly disagree with that decision. But as an employee, I have to abide by it. And if that changes, I'll let you know.” This statement by Kurtz provides some insight as to what is going on behind the scenes at Fox and how the company is trying to get out of the messy and expensive situation it’s found itself in.
From over the weekend:
Mitt Romney absolutely blasts Marjorie Taylor Greene on secession insanity
Senator Mitt Romney recently criticized Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene over her calls to split up the United States. Greene posted to Twitter a couple of weeks ago, “We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this.” Romney was asked about this comment in the halls of Congress and he responded by saying, “you know, I think Abraham Lincoln dealt with that kind of insanity. We’re not going to divide the country. It’s united we stand, divided we fall.” Greene’s idea has already been shown to be unconstitutional, since America’s founding document does not provide a provision for secession, and states cannot just say they secede from the union. Furthermore, many of these red states would not be economically viable as countries, as they rely on blue states for financial assistance. Romney should be commended for standing up to the lunatic voices in his party, but it’s unfortunate that sending this message is even necessary in the year 2023.
