Republican Senator Rand Paul has been cutting through MAGA media narratives this week. On Newsmax, he told Rob Schmitt that claims about Alex Pretti brandishing a weapon do not match the video. He warned that spreading falsehoods about deadly encounters fuels violence and protects bad behavior. Paul also highlighted the contradiction in conservative gun rhetoric, where lawful possession is praised until it becomes convenient to justify lethal force.
Melania Trump’s appearance on The Five was revealing. Asked if Donald Trump is a unifier, she gave a rambling answer praising him while blaming unnamed opponents for division. What stood out was the silence from MAGA figures who demand immigrants learn English. When a wealthy white European struggles to communicate on national TV, the outrage disappears.
Trump’s latest Truth Social threat against Iran exposes his fake anti-war image. Promising a “massive Armada” follows a pattern of saber rattling during domestic trouble. It no longer distracts. Markets react, allies worry, and the public stays focused on costs, healthcare, and abuses at home. Trump was anti-war in branding, not in principle.
The issue is not that protesters are violent, because most are not. The problem is a policy of constant confrontation that predictably produces violence. Flooding communities with armed ICE agents and treating escalation as governance creates a cycle of fear and retaliation. Systems built on perpetual conflict eventually spiral. This is not an excuse for violence, but a warning about its causes.
Accountability cannot stop with agents on the ground. Policies that militarize immigration enforcement are made at the top, and responsibility follows that chain. Investigations and trials, if warranted, are not about revenge. They are about enforcing the rule that power does not equal immunity. Democracies that fail to do this slide into impunity.
Finally, Trump insisted his brain is “perfect” during an interview where he briefly couldn’t recall the word Alzheimer’s while talking about his father. Forgetting a word on its own doesn’t prove anything medically. What matters is the context. Trump has repeatedly used cognitive testing as a political weapon and held it up as proof of fitness for office.

If we continue to allow this angry demented old man to set the agenda for this nation, we will be as bankrupt as hi casinos.
Without strawman enemies does Trump cease to exist?
