US Facing Twice as Many Domestic Terror Threats as Foreign
According to FBI statistics, the US today faces more than twice as many terror threats from domestic actors than from foreign actors. The assistant director of the FBI’s counterterrorism division told lawmakers on Wednesday that in recent years, the US has faced 2,700 domestic terror threats and only 1,000 foreign terror threats. A recent Associated Press poll shows that people in the United States are starting to understand this, with more Americans concerned about attacks coming from their fellow citizens than from foreign actors. Sixty-five percent of Americans reported they felt concerned about a threat to the country from domestic groups, whereas only 50% said they felt the same about foreign extremist groups. It appears as though American sentiment as to who actually poses the greatest terror risk is finally catching up to reality. For decades now, far right extremist groups have been a larger threat to American safety than Islamist terror organizations. But 9/11, wars in the Middle East, and subsequent media coverage made attacks from these groups of people appear more likely. Based on this AP poll, Americans finally now appear to understand where threats are more likely to be coming from.
Anti-Mask Father and Daughter Quote Hitler at School Board Meeting
A viewer named Tanner tuned into coverage of a recent school board meeting in his town to see if some of the anti-mask and anti-vax rhetoric had seeped into where he lives in Loveland, Colorado. Tanner discovered that it indeed had, and in fact, found that a middle school student was quoting Adolf Hitler in order to make an argument against mask mandates. The middle school student, who appeared to be put up to this by her father, started her statement by reading a quote from a famous politician that went, “he alone who owns the youth, gains the future.” Later on in her address, the student revealed the source of the quote to be Hitler, thus making a point that mask mandates are reminiscent of the Nazi era. Later on the dad himself spoke and he called for the resignation of everyone on the school board. He said in part, “how much will it cost to sell our children into mandatory vaccines? What else are you willing to sell our children into?” When finishing up his comments, the dad gave a final stare down to members of the board before taking his seat. The fact that a viewer was so easily able to find video of this from his local school board meeting suggests that this is happening all over the country and with examples like these it’s no wonder why the US struggles to get this pandemic under control.

Fox News Runs Clinic on Lying with Distorted Graphs
Fox News recently has been putting on a clinic in the art of lying with statistics and graphs. One such example came on Tucker Carlson’s program, where Tucker put up a chart of the “percentage of Americans that identify as Christians.” The graph showed that Christianity in the US has declined from 77% in 2009 to 65% in 2019. While this is a pretty significant decline, Carlson’s team made it look like even more sharp of a downtrend than it actually is. They did so by truncating the y-axis so that instead of the range of numbers going from zero to a hundred, it went from fifty-eight to seventy-eight. Another example is from Bret Baier’s “Special Report” program which purports to deliver actual news and not commentary. Baier’s team put up charts of the prices for oil and natural gas over time, showing a sharp spike that begins in the Biden era of early 2021. In this example, it’s the x-axis which is truncated, as the graph only went back to 2019. If they had shown a graph that had provided more context going back twenty or twenty-five years, the spike in 2021 would look far lass significant since prices are still well below their peaks of the late 2000’s decade. Savvy media consumers should be on the lookout for charts like these because they can be highly effective at painting an inaccurate picture of the data being presented.

Trump CRUSHING Biden by 10 in (Bogus) 2024 Poll
Donald Trump is up big in a 2024 hypothetical matchup against Joe Biden, according to the latest poll from Rasmussen. The results show that if the election was held today, Trump would win by ten points — 51% to 41%. The big caveat to this is that Rasmussen is an untrustworthy polling source and consistently skews conservative. But the data point cannot be entirely written off. Even if Trump is actually up only a couple of percentage points over Joe Biden, he’d still be likely to win since Democrats tend to need a comfortable margin of victory in the popular vote to be likely to take the electoral college as well. After four years of the right wing attacking Joe Biden on the economy, foreign policy and a whole host of other issues, Trump could be in a strong position to make a comeback and win himself a second term. If Biden, who will be nearly 82 on Election Day 2024, chooses not to run and Kamala Harris is the Democratic nominee instead, she might also have a difficult time against Trump since her approval polling leaves a lot to be desired. There is still a bunch of time before the 2024 race and the focus in the immediate should be on the midterms. But at this point, to entirely write of Trump’s chances at a comeback would be foolish.
