Elon Musk interviewed by Tucker Carlson, goes HORRIBLY wrong
Elon Musk was interviewed by Tucker Carlson in a two-night special interview that started last night. Carlson, in typical fashion, was sucking up to Musk throughout the interview and laughing at his jokes, even though they weren’t any good. The two discussed Musk’s purchase of Twitter, and offered pushback to the idea that the social media platform has declined since he took over. Musk's recent interactions with figures such as Joe Rogan and Texas Governor Greg Abbott have caused him to express views aligned with the right, such as encouraging people to vote for Republicans in the midterms. The odd thing about the hero's welcome Elon Musk is receiving from right-wing media is that many of his beliefs are antithetical to right-wing values, such as supporting electric cars and space exploration. Nevertheless, Musk seems to be enjoying the attention he’s getting from conservatives and that’s why he’s been shifting his politics accordingly.
Trump team RAGES over poll showing Trump failing in swing states
The Trump campaign team is dismissive of a poll that indicates Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be a stronger candidate than Donald Trump in swing states against Joe Biden in the 2024 election. The poll from Public Opinion Strategies suggests that DeSantis, who has yet to announce his candidacy, would beat Biden in Arizona and Pennsylvania by 48-42 and 45-42 respectively. However, the same poll suggests that Trump would lose to Biden in those states. The Trump war room Twitter account has attacked the poll, writing, “Public Opinion Strategies (POS) tried desperately for days to try to pitch this fake poll to other outlets. But they refused to disclose their ties to other 2024 candidates and would not release their cross tabs (data). Truly a POS poll.” The Republican Party will likely have to address the problem of supporting a candidate who would do worse against Biden in the general election, simply because they can’t seem to move beyond their dear leader Donald Trump.
From yesterday’s show:
Republicans stage ridiculous NYC hearings on "violent crime"
House Republicans are holding a hearing on violent crime in New York City, with the aim of attacking prosecutor Alvin Bragg for indicting Donald Trump. However, this is a political stunt, as Bragg can do multiple things at once, and there typically is a disproportionate focus on street crime rather than corporate, financial, and white-collar crime in the United States. New York City Mayor Eric Adams was asked about this and he correctly pointed out that there is actually a bigger problem with violent crime in many Republican cities. For example, the homicide crime rate in New York City in 2022 was three times lower than in Columbus, Ohio. Furthermore, per capita murder rates are 40% higher in states Donald Trump won than in states Joe Biden won. Crime is a complex issue and can be influenced by many different factors, including poverty, inequality, education levels, per capita income, and political affiliation. The right-wing narrative of dangerous Democratic cities or states is entirely baseless and it’s important to address violent crime in all areas of the country and not treat this like a political football.
From yesterday’s show:
Nikki Haley caught lying about her campaign fundraising
Nikki Haley's 2024 Republican presidential campaign appears to be off to a bad start, with The Washington Post reporting that her campaign vastly overstated the amount of money she had raised. Instead of the $11 million touted by her campaign, Haley brought in about $8.3 million, not all of which can even be used for the presidential campaign. The filings covering the first three months of the year show that three committees affiliated with Haley collectively brought in the $8.3 million total. Haley's polling numbers do not look very good, with most polling showing her at two, three, or four percent. However, there is speculation that Trump likes the idea of Nikki Haley running because it actually helps him. This is because more alternative candidates will split the anti-Trump vote and provide him with a clearer path to the nomination. Haley’s campaign may not need to go anywhere in the sense that she could be running as an audition for Trump’s vice presidential choice.
