EDITORIAL: Demand EXPLODES for Trump’s full medical records
When medical spin becomes a threat to democracy
The American public is once again demanding answers about Donald Trump’s health. Viral speculation over his visibly swollen ankles and mysterious bruises has escalated into a nationwide call for transparency, including a full release of his medical records and a comprehensive cognitive and neurological evaluation. This isn't mere curiosity; it's a matter of national security.
The White House's official explanation, chronic venous insufficiency, a common, benign condition, has only fueled skepticism. This diagnosis follows years of dishonesty, obfuscation, and spin by the Trump administration regarding his health. While medical professionals caution against armchair diagnoses, the public's current concerns are rooted in a history of misleading statements.
For years, Americans have been fed propaganda about Trump’s health, from cherry-picked medical letters that read more like PR to curated narratives proclaiming “perfect health.”
The health of a president has long been shrouded in secrecy and, at times, outright deception. This demand for transparency is not new; it echoes historical precedents.
Woodrow Wilson suffered a severe stroke in 1919, leaving him largely incapacitated. His wife and physician effectively ran the executive branch, shielding the true extent of his illness from the public and even his own cabinet. This period remains a stark example of a shadow presidency.
John F. Kennedy meticulously concealed his Addison's disease and other chronic ailments, maintaining a public image of youthful vigor despite requiring daily medication.
Questions arose about Ronald Reagan's cognitive state before his Alzheimer's diagnosis, highlighting the ongoing tension between a president's privacy and the public's right to know.
Joe Biden faced persistent scrutiny over his age and cognitive fitness, with memory lapses, verbal stumbles, and increasing reliance on close aides. Allegations later emerged that his inner circle sought to manage public perception by limiting unscripted appearances and shielding signs of decline.
This deeply ingrained historical pattern of secrecy makes the Trump administration's handling of his health particularly egregious. From the outset, there was a consistent pattern of highly curated and often hyperbolic health pronouncements. Initial medical letters, purportedly from his longtime physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, described Trump as having “astonishingly excellent physical health” and being “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein later admitted that Trump himself had dictated much of the content of these letters, highlighting a clear intent to mislead.
The pinnacle of this deception came in October 2020, when President Trump contracted COVID-19. The White House's public statements consistently downplayed the severity of his illness, despite mounting evidence to the contrary. White House officials repeatedly assured the public that the president was experiencing "mild symptoms" and was "doing very well." When Trump was airlifted to Walter Reed, the administration claimed it was a precautionary measure, portraying it as a routine check-up rather than a critical intervention.
However, behind the scenes, a far more serious situation was unfolding. Reports from multiple sources, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows' book, later revealed the extent of the crisis. Trump's oxygen levels had dropped significantly, and he was experiencing severe symptoms. There were serious concerns among medical staff and within the administration about his prognosis.
Despite this, public pronouncements continued to paint a rosy picture. His physician, Dr. Sean Conley, even refused to disclose whether Trump had received supplemental oxygen, leading to immediate public skepticism. Video evidence later emerged showing Trump visibly struggling to breathe, directly contradicting official narratives. This desperate effort to project an image of strength and control, even at the expense of honesty about a potentially life-threatening illness, deeply eroded public trust. The concern was not just about the President's personal health, but about the dangerous message it sent to a nation grappling with a pandemic, potentially encouraging a false sense of security about the virus's dangers.
This pattern of obfuscation, dodges, and outright lies has created a deep well of suspicion. So when the White House offers an explanation for seemingly minor health issues like swollen ankles, many understandably doubt it. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s explanation for the bruised hands, that Trump bruises them from shaking so many people’s hands, sounds more like damage control than truth. The inconsistencies only strengthen calls for full disclosure.
This is about more than Trump’s health; it’s about the transparency every president owes the public. Whether Trump is seriously ill or not is almost beside the point. The key question is whether Americans can trust their leader to be honest about his fitness to serve. History shows a lack of transparency breeds conspiracy, mistrust, and instability. If the White House insists on hiding the truth behind swollen ankles and bruised hands, it’s because there’s something far more consequential they don’t want us to see.
Speaking to the comment about the so called assassination attempt, another coverup of medical records, never been released. The whole Trump con job, lies, disinformation and cover ups, never seem to end does it? His whole tenure, 2 past presidency, are nothing but a total SHAM on the American people.
Rebel and resist.
He’s the luckiest SOB ever. He would have died on a ventilator if he got Covid one month earlier. It’s was just as close a call as that bullet that grazed his head.
I give 50-50 odds he makes it to the end of his term. In his first term I would have said his VP Pence would be an improvement. But the new VP Vance was chosen so nobody would ever want him to become president.
