I have dread in my heart and guts and after the many months of stress I need to rest my mind, to detach and get my energy back. But I won't let that man defeat me and I plan to stay subscribed. I thank you for your courage and for your strength and energy. Bless you David.

All of this makes sense of course. As a foreigner I can't even affect your elections, but still I've been following US politics actuvely for about 20 years now.

This result is so mind-numbingly depressing that I can so much understand the need to disconnect.

I mean the next two years will be all horror stories of the policies they have the free reign to enact. And we can't do anything about it. And when the policies finally start to have a bad effect on Trump voters themselves, they won't care. They'll just believe the right wing echo chamber and blame it on the libs.

Inflation goes up due to tariffs? Biden did it. Trump is trying to fix it. Women dying because abortion is banned? Leftist moral degradation causes the pregnancies etc.

I probably still won't... but I want to tune out so motherfrackingly bad. Keep up the fight, David. I hope you and the personalities like you effect real change in the future.

People are already organizing. Some had anticipated and planned for the situation that Trump would be re-elected.

California and New York (abortion was on the ballot. 62% voted that the present legislation should stay = women have the right to free abort) will not allow that women's right to decide about their own bodies are taken away. Also Colorado is a safe place.

What needs to be organized is an Underground Railroad

Thank you for your strong clear voice. I agree. Now is the time to double down, not walk away. I have adjusted my budget to support independent voices for liberal democracy in both Canada and the US. This is the opportunity to build a stronger, more responsive and representative model of democracy. One rerooted into the soil of the 21st Century. Keep and expand community, act locally, think globally. I'm in Canada so if anyone is thinking it is a safe haven here it won't be for long. MAGA is coming for us in the federal election that will be held in the next year masquerading as conservative parties and organizations. And we suffer from the same stupid people (referring to Bonhoeffer's On Stupidity) here. Alberta, besides being a colony of foreign Oil and Gas empires, is already full blown MAGA under its provincial United Conservative Party (UCP). We are now a magnet for every corporate grift imaginable.

Really sorry hear this. My Scottish ancestors migrated to Nova Scotia and it breaks my heart that the same thing is occurring in Canada. Stay strong!

Coming from Australia here. David your recent messages of hope and resilience are an inspiring glimmer of hope in an otherwise darkening world. In my view the one of the most dangerous aspects about all of this is that the younger generations who have grown up with social media all their lives don't have as much experience sorting out the quality of the political content they encounter, and appear extremely susceptible to online rightwing propaganda with its associated cheap-shot scare campaigns. It feels like a whole generation of kids are being sucked into a dangerous vortex of selfishness and apathy towards the concept of community. Being trained from such a young age this cultural trend is something the rest of us have little experience to combat. Its scary. I feel like Trump being re-elected is a byproduct of this. Yes, I am lost and will need some of that self care time but will always continue trying to help wherever I can. All I can say is- please keep up your amazing work, I hope your message will continue to grow and influence others to conduct similar works. Good luck everyone let's try and stay strong.

Thanks David, I totally agree. We all need to help the brave warriors such as yourself hold the forts and help build up resources for the next battle. If anything things are only set to get more interesting/scary/horrific over the next two years. If the presidential race was like an adventure story, what comes next will be a real thriller. Now is the time for everyone interested in the future of the planet, free speech and equality to unite, engage and man the defenses ready for the coming battle for Helms Deep!

I have been a subscriber on your YouTube channel since the beginning. Was hacking involved?

I am wiped out by the shock as every thinking person is.

I won't be leaving. Please don't be discouraged in the least. You will get new younger subscribers coming up to the age of voting. And others will refer your channel to friends.

I was shocked that it was called so early. I am sure they are making every investigation behind the scenes as quickly as possible to rule out methods of cheating. Will it help. Who knows. Russian interference has never left. We have Chinese interference in Canada. We have to be smarter and on the ball. These are my suspicions, not fact, and not conspiracy theories. More like food for thought.

Chin up!

Donald Trump is a disgusting, revolting, dangerous, criminal entity with an IQ of a gnat. The World is incredulous that a seemingly normal, sane, freedom loving first-world country could elect this orange clown as its leader. It defies logic that a scum-blob like him should ever control a nation when he can’t even control himself. And, Hello—to surround himself with billionaires with their own agendas is corrupt in itself. He’s Putin’s best defender, and the World’s #1 grifter. Just look at what he’s got, and will get away with! Americans, in their gullibility, will learn, and will have themselves to blame. Reasonable and cognizant souls will just have to strive to overcome and rise above him. Time to get your crampons on!!

I sooooooo agree. How are people justifying this? And what message did they just send to young women and girls about their prospects for achieving high leadership. Kamala would have been one MAGNIFICENT leader. maga voters really f'd this one up.

Hey David - While this has been a devastating week, I have pledged to organize and activate. We MUST fight back where we can. Right now I am really embarrassed to be a U.S. citizen. That said, I encourage my fellow Americans to choose one or two issues that you are passionate about (mine are women's reproductive health freedom, and climate change. Don't sit around and mope. I get it. I am cycling through the stages of grief (especially anger) but we must DO SOMETHING. We may have lost this battle, but we have not lost the war.

Wouldn’t it be great time to change the idea of politics as war, even civilised? There is this interesting analysis in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/nov/09/we-can-rage-about-donald-trump-or-we-can-be-curious-about-why-he-appealed-to-so-many that corroborates with what I see in a lot of European countries: why should I empower people that wants to save anyone but me. “I feel jeopardised, but as I feel normal, nobody cares about it” and even more, those who want power tels me that I shouldn’t worry for me. Of course I still don’t know how they can think that the quattuor, DT, JDV, EM and RFK could be more able to take care of them, but if we can’t change this winner takes it all mentality we’ll go strait in dark times together. I hurt the most there: one of the things that gave me hope has go down with the ships crew: “be solidaire and work for the common good”. The most difficult to learn is to understand that this common, in the globality of our technological world cannot exclude? David thank you for the last three months and please keep on. Just think about it: the aim of politics can’t be the win of a party, not even of the greater good, but of the common good.
