It is NOT normal. I've been told I should calm myself, not pay so much attention, wait for things to get better. And this just makes me want to scream. We cannot sit back. We cannot accept. I will not, ever accept it because it is WRONG. I do not want to be like the people in Germany at the end of WW2, looking at the wreckage and wondering what they could have done. I thank you David for your work which I do not take for granted because I can only imagine how hard it is yet you are always very fair and very professional. I depend on you.
Thank you for this incredibly important pep talk . it helped me clarify for myself what my personal resistance will be for however long our Maga infested government survives with their evil agenda .
This is a very good essay. I understand completely. I am so "strung out" from being angry all the time. It started with the escalator ride. I haven't chosen to retain this level of anger, I can't make it go away. The big problem is that when a person is in this state of mind for a long time, cortisol surges through the body, and that isn't good. Complacency is also dangerous. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/22187-cortisol
SO well put, David. I'm protesting every weekend. it's not always a great turnout, but the people who turn out are great! We can't give up. Here's an idea, not saying it's correct or even a good idea, but it's an idea! Trump is such a narcissistic mentally ill man. I don't think he responds the way the average guy does, obviously. So lets push him over the edge. it's always about HIM. Look how upset he is at things like Bruce Springsteen or Taylor Swift making him look small. Let's play up his unbelievable uncoolness. You do a great job of this, but even though it's stupid to post pictures of his horrible body or weird hair and strange orange makeup, I'm not saying to address this directly exactly. But plaster it all over. I carry a sign at the protests of Trump in a diaper wearing a crown. it's disgusting, but it gets SO many comments. At this point anything is worth a try. The more crazy he gets the more likely he'll finally do or say something that hopefully sticks. If we can get him to do something really stupid regarding Putin, that might be enough. thanks for being out there.
It Is Very Difficult for Many Americans To WAKE UP from Their COZY Lives...We Have Had it Fairly Good for so Long. We Have Been Lulled Into --- Frankly, Taking Our Lives for Granted ---
For the last couple of years I have been getting my news exclusively from independent sources such as the MeidasTouch Network, The Bulwark, and David Pakman.
With every video I watch, I become more convinced that I can—and, indeed—MUST run for POTUS in 2028. I would be a president for every person living in our great country.
I have lived in Oklahoma, Eastern Kentucky, Philadelphia, Peru (South America), Southeastern Michigan, the Triad Region of North Carolina, and Fairbanks, Alaska, so I am strongly cross-culturally oriented. I can identify with every marginalized group in our country while also maintaining my ties with white evangelicals.
Unlike Donald Trump, I am truly born-again, but I am not a Christian nationalist. The United States of America is not and never was a Christian nation. It was founded on natural law, not biblical truth or principles. To this day, no theocracy has been successful.
Unlike Donald Trump, I am more concerned with knowing the truth than being "right," and would never intentionally lie. In fact, I would admit it when I am mistaken.
I was an electrician for more than thirty-three years, so I can identify with working people and the labor unions. On the other hand, I also have several advanced academic degrees (MDiv, MEd, EdS, PhD), so I would also see the world from the more educated perspective of the Democratic Party.
I have what might be called "educated common sense." As a result, I would only nominate highly qualified individuals for my cabinet and staff positions. Most of these would be from or with the advice of the independent news networks.
Finally, I am retired and living off of SSI and my Alaska state pension (PERS). If it weren't for my wife continuing to work well past her retirement age, I would be living on the street. So I know what it is like to be a senior citizen living from paycheck to paycheck. And that you, President Biden for the SSFA!
I also suffer from three clinically diagnosed disabilities. I won't list them here, but if I am considered for nomination, I would be completely transparent about them, as well as about the mistakes I have made in the past.
Many of our great presidents suffered from disabilities. I know that some of you are leery of clicking on links in a comment. Just google "how many us presidents had disabilities" and click on United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton's article about "Presidents with Disabilities - Dayton" (https://ursdayton.org/presidents-with-disabilities/).
In just four months, Trump has isolated America from the rest of the world with his insane policies, and has made America the laughingstock of the world. I am a globalist and would strive to "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" in the truest sense, just as Presidents Lincoln, FDR, Truman, and Biden did.
In essence, I would try to reverse as many of Trump's misguided policies as I can, and as quickly as I can. All I need is a little help from a lot of people, which is why I am looking to the independent news networks. I also would need Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. So vote "Blue" in 2026 and 2028.
Now it's time to wake up from my dream. Wait! I am already "woke."
I am fortunate. I had a lot of therapy in my life. (This post made me realize that I was in and out of therapy for 50 years.) The mechanisms I learned to deal with issues that made me cry incessantly did not go away. In fact, it provided me with some tools that were applicable to this. I didn't lose my empathy or compassion. I certainly did not lose my ability to ascertain good and evil. Nor did I lose my ability to know right from wrong, and the truth from a lie. However, I am not able to stop being so angry all the time. The only thing that helps me is to turn off the news. Only for a day or so; otherwise, I don't know what's going on, and that isn't how I want to live. So, it's a balance, MaryAnn, and each person has to work hard to find the balance that works for them. I hope you find a little peace soon.
Good one David. I always appreciate your passion and the substance of your writing. This will never, ever be normal we have to put our collective foot so far up the ass of this inane bullshit, we'll tickle their tonsils! We have your back brother!
Time with this artical was well spent. Last year I read The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz and Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman. Have dug them back out to help with these trying times. Peace

I would love it if all progressive media would ignore FOTUS June 14th parade. Reclaim the US flag for all of US.

Perfect, David.

David is exactly right. We cannot become num to the craziness brought on by the Trump administration.

I am not used to it. It is not normal for me. I cry every time I hear of an injustice or when people get hurt.
