Donald Trump delivered a slurred and confusing Veterans Day speech, rambling about “Victory Day,” and making historically dubious claims. He spoke about firing VA employees he described as “sadists” and “thieves,” claiming they were rehired under Biden, though there’s no evidence for this. He also oddly praised Speaker Mike Johnson as a “great man someday” and repeatedly emphasized dying without complaining, in a way that seemed disconnected from actual veteran experiences.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy alarmingly said the government cannot guarantee airplane safety, framing it as a risk-based decision rather than a failure of oversight. He criticized air traffic controllers who didn’t work during the government shutdown, implying a lack of patriotism. Duffy also warned of possible airline disruptions but could not quantify them, highlighting systemic risks in complex, high-stakes operations like air traffic control.
Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva is delivering the 218th signature on a discharge petition to force a House vote on releasing Jeffrey Epstein case files. This bipartisan effort bypasses leadership and forces members to publicly take a stand, testing transparency and accountability, with potential implications for Donald Trump depending on what is revealed.
House Democrats released emails from Epstein that contradict Trump’s denials about his knowledge of Epstein’s crimes. The messages suggest Trump spent time with a victim and coordinated responses with Ghislaine Maxwell and journalist Michael Wolff. Trump’s awareness is now under scrutiny, increasing calls for full release of the files.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent promoted Trump’s promises on national television including $2,000 stimulus checks, “Trump accounts” investing $1,000 per child, and a return of high-paying manufacturing jobs. Closer examination shows many claims of Bessent’s are misleading or false, with benefits that don’t exist, are mathematically unworkable, or were already underway before Trump took office.
Trump’s appeared on Pat McAfee’s sports show for a softball interview. Instead of focusing on Veterans Day or sports, Trump spread propaganda with no pushback. McAfee admitted he lacked political knowledge, allowing Trump to pivot to misleading claims about the 2020 election and VA approval ratings.
Meanwhile, Trump’s interview with Laura Ingraham was a display of vanity. He bragged about White House renovations, gold-plated plaques, and marble floors, while Ingraham asked sycophantic questions. Trump spun misleading economic claims, highlighting that wealth does not buy class and uncritical platforms enable ego-driven spectacle.
Finally, Adam Kinzinger, former Republican congressman, joins us on Substack Live to discuss his documentary “The Last Republican,” the future of the GOP after Trump, and why he believes Democrats must win to save American democracy.
On today’s bonus show:
White House unhappy about Trump’s 50-year mortgage plan, white men disproportionately represented in podcasting, the Supreme Court set to hear a case on mail-in voting grace periods, and much more…

The best part is dt's statement that wealth doesn't buy class. He should know.
Trump is effectively finished because the bottom has fallen out of his gossamer claim to moral character. The world plainly sees the impotent wizard exposed behind the curtain as a total, irredeemable fraud and Potemkin strongman.
