As Trump's brain fails, Fox News talks about Biden's "gaffes"
As Donald Trump continues to gaffe on the campaign trail, his allies in right-wing media keep defending him by ignoring his flubs and focusing only on those of Joe Biden. One example is Kayleigh McEnany's criticism of Biden for forgetting a CBS reporter's name on Fox News. However, McEnany failed to mention any of Trump’s mess-ups from over the years, such as calling the CEO of Apple "Tim Apple" and the CEO of Lockheed Martin "Marillyn Lockheed," These incidents were not extensively covered by Fox News. Geographical inaccuracies, including Trump confusing Sioux Falls with Sioux City and incorrectly stating that Hungary shares a border with Russia, are also notable Trump examples. There is an obvious disparity in how cognitive lapses are being presented and discussed on Fox News, underscoring the argument that both leaders have exhibited lapses but received different levels of attention and criticism from the media.
Bonkers Trump lawyer describes insane Trump screaming matches
A leaked video from Georgia features former lawyer Sidney Powell criticizing Rudy Giuliani from the period of time they were working together to overturn the 2020 election results. The video is from testimony during Powell’s Georgia election fraud case, in which she ultimately took a plea deal. The video reveals contentious moments, including a shouting match with Rudy Giuliani and Powell's admission of lacking knowledge of election law. Notably, Powell discusses Trump's willingness to appoint a special counsel to secure voting machines in several states, something that would have been illegal. The conversation emphasizes Trump's alleged persistence in challenging the election outcome, even after advisers informed him of his loss.
From yesterday’s show:
FBI Director reminds Marjorie Taylor Greene that he's not part of DHS
During a recent hearing, Marjorie Taylor Greene faced a notable moment of embarrassment when she mistakenly questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray about the Department of Homeland Security, revealing a lack of understanding about government agencies. Holding up her tweets for Wray, she seemed unaware that he doesn't use Twitter, emphasizing her apparent ignorance. The discussion later shifted to accusations of FBI reliance on the Southern Poverty Law Center and allegations of the FBI targeting innocent individuals, particularly grandmothers, based on political beliefs. However, she failed to provide concrete evidence, and the claims appeared to be part of a broader narrative criticizing the FBI's actions in politically sensitive areas, including school board protests during the COVID-19 pandemic. The overall exchange highlighted confusion and misinformation surrounding government proceedings and law enforcement actions.
From yesterday’s show:
Tennessee city bans being gay in public
In a disturbing turn of events, Murfreesboro, Tennessee has passed an ordinance effectively banning public displays of homosexuality, drawing attention to the city's history of extreme right-wing ideologies. The ordinance, passed in June, prohibits "indecent behavior," encompassing indecent exposure, public indecency, lewd behavior, nudity, or sexual conduct, explicitly including homosexuality. Violators face bans on hosting public events or selling goods and services at public events for up to two years, escalating to a five-year ban if the violation occurs in the presence of minors. Shockingly, the ordinance is now being used to restrict library content, prompting efforts to ban books discussing LGBTQ themes. City officials have implemented a library card system segregating books by age group, requiring parental approval for access to so-called "adult books." This move reflects a broader trend seen nationally, undermining LGBTQ rights despite the Biden presidency.
