Trump claims Biden on cocaine in sick interview, host says "right"
During a recent interview with Wayne Allyn Root, Donald Trump revived his claim that Joe Biden might be on cocaine, stating, "We can't have a president who's on cocaine." Despite the lack of evidence and Biden's reputation for low energy, Trump's casual mention of this unsupported accusation will perpetuate the narrative among his base. They won’t care about the contradiction and find it plausible that the cocaine found at the White House belonged to Biden himself. For his part, Root didn’t push back and accepted the premise of Biden’s cocaine use as true. The interview also showcased Trump's narcissism as he claimed that if he had won the election, no deaths would have occurred in Ukraine due to Russia's invasion. This egocentric statement, coupled with the ongoing weaponization of Trump's narcissism, raises concerns about the state of political discourse in the United States which continues to get worse as the years go on.
HOLY $&!T: Republican FBI hearings go HORRIBLY WRONG
In a recent congressional hearing, Republicans aimed to demonstrate that the FBI has been weaponized by the left against the right, as supported by Donald Trump’s federal indictment. However, their case faced a setback when Christopher Wray, the Trump-appointed FBI Director, testified and shut them down one by one. Despite his Republican affiliation and support for Republican candidates, the right has made baseless allegations against Wray claiming he’s part of the deep state and supports Democrats. Meanwhile, Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu effectively questioned the notion of a biased FBI by highlighting convictions of individuals closely associated with former President Trump, all of which occurred under Republican-led administrations. Lieu's line of questioning emphasized that the FBI operates independently and pursues criminals regardless of party ideology. The hearing also featured some cartoonish moments, such as Republican Congressman Chip Roy's attempt to portray the FBI as tyrannical, countered by Wray's explanation that agents act respectfully and in accordance with proper procedures. Overall, the hearing appeared to waste taxpayers' money and served as political theater rather than uncovering meaningful insights.
From yesterday’s show:
LOL: Trump's lawyers want his trial postponed indefinitely
Donald Trump's lawyers are seeking an indefinite postponement of his federal criminal trial, claiming that it would interfere with his run for president. They argue that holding the trial while Trump is a candidate would be prejudicial and a form of election interference. However, this request is ridiculous considering that when Trump was president, his lawyers argued against investigations and charges due to executive privilege, and now they claim the trial should be postponed because he's a candidate. Some of Trump's advisers privately express that he sees winning the election as a solution to his legal problems. Trump's legal team frames their request as a means to safeguard democracy, but this is absurd coming from the president who incited a coup attempt. At this point, it’s possible that Trump will miss out on important campaign events, like debates, because he has a scheduling conflict with a court date. But these legal issues are consequences of Trump’s actions and he shouldn’t be able to get out of them by perpetually running for president.
From yesterday’s show:
Inflation WAY DOWN to 3%, MAGA in shambles
The latest economic data shows positive trends in the US economy, with inflation for the 12-month period ending in June 2023 decreasing to 3% and real wages surpassing pre-pandemic levels when adjusted for inflation. The US also has the lowest inflation rate among G7 countries, and gas prices have declined to a AAA average of $3.55 per gallon. While these indicators are encouraging, it is important to acknowledge that economic fluctuations and challenges still exist, and no one knows when the next recession is coming. It’s good to have a small amount of inflation but it was way out of hand in 2021 and 2022, peaking at 9.1%. Three percent is not far from the Federal Reserve’s inflation target of 2%, which strikes a balance between promoting economic growth and avoiding unaffordability or reduced economic activity. Biden ought to benefit from these economic numbers like any president would, but at the same time, presidents don’t have as much control over the economy as most Americans believe. It is crucial to avoid political games and instead recognize the nuanced nature of these indicators while remaining vigilant to potential future downturns.
