WOW: Tucker texts leaked, hates Trump "passionately"
The latest tranche of leaked text messages from Fox News has revealed that Tucker Carlson hates Donald Trump passionately, despite constantly praising Trump on his nightly news program. The messages, which were sent on January 4th, 2021, right before the Trump riots, were revealed in connection with the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit for defamation against Fox News. In the messages, Carlson expresses his frustration with Trump and says he cannot handle much more of it. He also talks with Laura Ingraham about the decline in ratings at Fox News after the election and expresses anger at the news side of Fox for calling the election for Biden. The leaked messages have exposed many different layers of the right-wing media and the MAGA movement in the United States. It’s also further evidence that Tucker Carlson is really just playing a character on his TV show and it’s impossible to know what he genuinely does and doesn’t believe.
Ron DeSantis' crazy "State of the State" address goes off the rails
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered his State of the State address yesterday and he spoke about his supposed accomplishments over the past four years, emphasizing his $2 billion tax cut package, which he claims is the largest in Florida's history. DeSantis also mentioned his anti-abortion and anti-transgender stances, which garnered applause from his audience. DeSantis is considered a strong contender for the 2024 Republican presidential candidacy, challenging former President Donald Trump. However, DeSantis's lack of charisma and humor was apparent during his address and could end up being a major liability in a national campaign against Trump. The speech also raised concerns about the politicization of science, particularly with regard to gender-affirming care for transgender individuals. It also showcased the authoritarian path that DeSantis and Florida Republicans have taken the Sunshine State down in recent years.
From yesterday’s show:
Will CNN become the new Fox News in 2024?
Failed former President Donald Trump has reportedly suggested that CNN become a right-wing network to attract viewers and advertisers. This has sparked an interesting media story as Fox News and Trump have been at odds recently. Fox News and the MAGA crowd have been increasingly at odds ever since the 2020 election, leading Trump to seek out alternatives like Newsmax and OAN, even though they don’t have nearly as wide a distribution. Trump has suggested that CNN, under new leadership, could become the new home for Trump supporters and the American right wing. Trump's instincts are correct that there is a desire for something more mainstream and widely available than Newsmax and OAN among MAGA Trumpists. However, it’s hard to believe that CNN would have any interest in going in this editorial direction.

RED ALERT: Florida Republicans want to force bloggers to "register" with the state
The state of Florida has proposed a new bill, which requires bloggers who write about the governor, legislators, or state officials to register with the state. The bill, proposed by Republican State Senator Jason Brodeur, also requires bloggers to disclose who is paying them and how much they are being paid. If a blogger posts about an elected state officer and receives compensation for the post, they must register with the appropriate office within five days of posting. Failure to register results in a fine of $25 a day, capped at $2,500 per post. This bill could quickly be expanded to include independent journalists, YouTubers, and others. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has deemed this proposal unconstitutional and a violation of free speech. Even former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has criticized the legislation as clearly against the First Amendment. This is the latest example of right-wingers going against free speech and the Constitution, while they claim to be their biggest supporters.
