Dripping Wet Trump Hours Late, BOOED at His Own Rally
Donald Trump held a rally in Arizona over the weekend ostensibly to support his chosen 2022 midterm candidates, and the event was a total disaster. Trump showed up to the speech hours late and dripping with sweat. He was barely audible due to an issue with his voice. The former president was booed when he read out some of his endorsements. When Trump announced his support for Eli Crane, who’s running in Arizona’s second district, the crowd jeered leaving Trump confused. He then tried laughing it off in a revealing moment, saying “but you like me, right?” This is yet another sign that the endorsements by Trump aren’t a way to further Republican voting interests but rather to boost his own power within the party and make himself look good. Sadly, the rallies won’t be stopping anytime soon since even as the midterm election season comes to a close, Trump’s 2024 run will likely be heating up.
Trump Tells Obvious Lies to Cultists Who Don't Know Any Better
Donald Trump spoke at the Turning Point USA conference in Florida over the weekend, and everything about it from the entrance to the pyrotechnics looked like a WWE-style performance. At one point, Trump mentioned that he wanted to give himself the Congressional Medal of Honor “but they wouldn’t let me do that.” At another point in the speech, Trump said that nursing home patients don’t vote too much because “people are dying, they got other things on their mind” and used this as evidence to make the case that there was voter fraud in the 2020 election. Later, Trump referred to himself as the most persecuted person in the country because of the criticisms he faced while president. This event comes across as a joke to many, but it goes to show the Republican supporter base, young people included, are active and ready to vote in the next two elections.
From yesterday’s show:
They're Officially Moving On to Gay Marriage
Republicans are not satisfied with the far right Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade last month, and they’ve now moved on to trying to abolish same-sex marriage. Senator Ted Cruz said as much on his podcast “Verdict,” claiming, “Obergefell [v. Hodges] ignored two centuries of our nation’s history. Marriage was always an issue that was left to the states. . . . I think that decision was clearly wrong when it was decided. It was the court overreaching.” This same logic could be applied to interracial marriage, and if some Republicans got their way, people of different ethnic backgrounds would not be able to marry today in many states around the country. This should be a wake up call for every tolerant person in the country to vote these Republicans out of office in 2022.
From yesterday’s show:
Republican Wants America "Back to Work" During Lowest Unemployment in 50+ Years
Republican Senator Rick Scott called for Americans to get back to work to solve the economic turmoil much of the country is facing. The problem with this analysis is that the unemployment rate is exceptionally low and the labor force participation rate is exceptionally high. Scott was on Fox News Sunday and said, “we’ve got to get Americans back to work. If you’re able-bodied, you don’t have young children . . . get to work.” The Florida senator might be surprised to learn that the unemployment rate currently sits at 3.6% which is a 50-year low and labor force participation is at a healthy 62%. Republicans got used to speaking about people needing to get back to work during the pandemic and even though the economic picture has now changed, many haven’t yet adjusted their talking points.
