UH-OH: Eric Trump & Kimberly Guilfoyle's Phone Records Subpoenaed
The phone records of Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle have been subpoenaed by the January 6th committee as part of its ongoing investigation into what happened on that day and in the lead up to it. The records will show the committee logs of ingoing and outgoing calls, their dates and times, and some text message information as well. Both parties played prominent roles in the “Stop the Steal” campaign and spoke at the January 6th rally that preceded the Capitol insurrection. The phone records of over 100 other people have already been subpoenaed, but now this investigation is reaching members of the Trump family and inner circle. However, Eric Trump and Guilfoyle have as of now not been personally required to appear for interviews or hand over documents. Questions remain over whether the committee will implicate Donald Trump personally, but it’s certainly moving more and more in that direction every day.
WOW: Matt Gaetz' Ex-Girlfriend Given Immunity in Sex Trafficking Probe
News continues to roll out about the investigation into Congressman Matt Gaetz with the latest revelation being that Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend has been granted immunity in exchange for her participation with authorities. The Florida representative and staunch Trump ally is being investigated over allegations of child sex trafficking and prostitution. CBS News legal analyst Rikki Kleiman said about Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend’s participation, “this may be a willing participant who has a smart lawyer who sought an immunity deal from the government. The government does not give immunity blindly, they know what they're getting in exchange." Gaetz is denying all accusations made against him and has claimed that it’s part of the latest effort to cancel him. However it’s prompted Fox News and Gaetz’s right-wing allies to disassociate with him at least for the time being while the investigation is underway. Gaetz, like anyone else, is innocent until proven guilty, and he hasn’t even been charged yet. However, with the timeline of events and evidence piling up, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if charges are filed at some point this year.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Rally Attendees Are Dangerous Maniacs
Donald Trump held a rally in Arizona over the weekend and the Right Side Broadcasting Network viewed it as an opportunity to interview fans in attendance. However the right-wing network got more than they bargained for with some of the guests they brought on air. One of the people interviewed said he was a flat earther who thinks society is reaching the apocalypse and that COVID vaccines are made of aborted children. He went so far as to blame Trump for his role in creating the vaccines, which prompted the reporter to quickly put an end to the conversation. Another man in attendance said that California Governor Gavin Newsom was executed and replaced with a body double. All the reporter could say was “there you go” before bringing an end to that exchange. Right Side Broadcasting Network succeeded in portraying an accurate representation of who is still showing up to these Trump rallies, but these were probably not the types of people they wanted to put on air.
From yesterday’s show:
MyPillow Mike Lindell's Bank is Closing His Account
The troubles continue for MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, with his bank now closing his accounts over concerns of reputational damage. Lindell went on Steve Bannon’s podcast last week and said he was asked by his bank, Heartland Financial, to close his accounts within 30 days. According to the MyPillow CEO, he refused the bank’s request and made them close the accounts for him: “I said, 'I am not being part of this. I'm not leaving. So you're going to have to throw me out of your bank.’” Some conservatives are angered by this decision, but really they shouldn’t be. The right-wing has a long track record of saying that private businesses should be able to serve and not serve whomever they want. This was the argument used in the gay wedding case out of Colorado a few years back. But now that Lindell is having issues, these same right-wingers flip on a dime and want to force his financial institution to do business with him.
