Trump may have just landed himself in jail
Failed former President Donald Trump may face pretrial detention for allegedly violating a protective order by communicating with witnesses and threatening the prosecution via social media. A few days ago, Trump posted to Truth Social, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!” seemingly referring to special counsel Jack Smith. Trump also posted an attack message about Mike Pence, who’s presumably one of the witnesses in the case. The judge had warned Trump against intimidation or retaliation, and these remarks could be seen as attempts to influence witnesses. Trump agreed to these terms for his release, yet apparently didn’t take them seriously and doesn’t believe he has to abide by the rules like everyone else. While the possibility of pretrial detention remains uncertain, such a move could have significant implications for Trump's political pursuits and would be historically unprecedented. Nonetheless, his supporters' loyalty would persist as they would see it as part of a Democratic effort to keep him off the campaign trail.
LOL: Trump wants "diverse" jury of only white Trump supporters
Donald Trump and his lawyers are seeking to move his 2020 election trial to West Virginia in the hopes of obtaining an all-white jury composed of Trump supporters. They aim to have a different judge and venue, as D.C. has a more diverse population compared to the predominantly white population in West Virginia. Trump's lawyer suggests that they desire a "diverse" jury, but the clear implication is that they want a jury predominantly made up of Trump's white supporters. Additionally, Trump's defense strategy, as stated by his lawyer, is to claim that Trump believed he won the election and had the right to express his views under the First Amendment. However, legal experts assert that this defense is weak since the indictment is focused on Trump's actions, not his speech. It is questioned whether Trump's legal team genuinely believes this argument will hold up in court or if it is merely a strategy for the TV cameras to win over public opinion.
From yesterday’s show:
Joe Rogan goes full election fraud during whacked PBD interview
Podcaster Joe Rogan continues to drift further to the right and against reason, as has been made evident from his recent interview with Patrick Bet David. Rogan made the claim that Trump's indictments are turning the country into a “banana republic,” because it’s happening under the Justice Department of this political rival. Rogan then went on to talk about election fraud, suggesting it must exist to some degree, and suggesting that Trump may have had a point. Then he cited unemployment as a reason Trump was a successful president, even though the metric is better under Biden than Trump, as are many other economic indicators. Rogan did make one salient point though, which was his prediction that no one can beat Trump in the Republican primary unless something extraordinary occurs is acknowledged to be a valid point. Overall, Rogan becoming more right-wing is a disappointment and it could be prevented if he simply had more progressive voices on his show.
From yesterday’s show:
WOW: Mike Pence admits to the entire thing, sandbags Trump
Donald Trump may have to contend with having highly credible witnesses testify against him in his 2020 election federal trial. Mike Pence could be a witness, as he’s said he took notes about the requests he received around January 6, revealing that he was asked not only to pause the acceptance of electoral votes but to outright reject them. Such a revelation could have significant implications for Trump's legal defense, as it adds tremendous weight to the allegations of attempting to disenfranchise voters and overturn the election. Despite this, Pence has said he has not ruled out voting for Trump in 2024. The role of witnesses like Pence, who were close to Trump and privy to critical information, could be crucial in determining the outcome of Trump's federal trial. Their testimonies could shed light on the events leading up to and following January 6th, offering critical insights into Trump's efforts to overturn the election results.
