OH NO: Trump ADMITS Financial Statements Are Inaccurate
In one of his “official statements,” Donald Trump admits that his financial records cannot be trusted. This comes in response to his former accounting firm, Mazars USA, announcing that nobody should have confidence in the Trump Organization’s financial statements. In response, the former president said that “we have a great company with fantastic assets that are unique, extremely valuable, and, in many cases, far more valuable than what was listed in our financial statements.” Here, Trump acknowledges the allegations against him by tacitly admitting that he does in fact inflate or deflate the value of his assets. This may to establish credit or to avoid paying taxes. These valuations are supposed to remain consistent, and Trump saying that they’re not exposes him to liability in the ongoing probe into his company’s finances by the state of New York.
Biden REJECTS Trump Request, Orders Riot Visitor Logs Released
Joe Biden has turned down a request from Donald Trump to shield the release of visitor logs to the White House on the days leading up to the January 6th Capitol riots. In a letter to the National Archives, Biden’s White House counsel granted Congress the right to investigate the records. The Trump team, having caught wind of the plan, tried to block the release using the argument of executive privilege, which the Biden White House shut down. This is not the first time Biden has blocked requests from Trump to stop information from being handed over to the January 6th committee. If the “executive privilege” argument didn’t work the last time, the Trump team couldn’t have reasonably thought it was going to work this time. Something as simple as who is visiting the White House should obviously be public information, so the fact that the ex-POTUS wants to hide this suggests that he has a whole lot more to hide surrounding the events of January 6, 2021.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Fraud Lawyer Admits Maybe None of It Is True
Sidney Powell appears to have reconsidered her voter fraud claims surrounding the 2020 election. Powell is known for her baseless claims that voting machines were tampered with and that a “kraken” of evidence would be released to reveal it all. After these lies and false promises went nowhere, Powell began facing lawsuits worth billions of dollars and possible disbarment. District Court Judge Linda Parker called one of Powell’s frivolous lawsuits a “historic and profound abuse of the judicial process.” Powell has argued that she was under no obligation to investigate the veracity of her claims in court. In a filing this week, Powell admitted that what she argued may not have actually been true, but because people were asserting it at the time, that was good enough for her. It seems obvious that Powell knew exactly what she was doing at the time, and it makes total sense that she is facing these career-ending consequences because of it.
From yesterday’s show:
Lauren Boebert Gets Misspelled "Hottest Woman in Congress" Award
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has been awarded the “Hottest Woman in Congress” by a right-wing YouTube channel. Her prize is a gift card to Red Lobster. As if this isn’t already beyond parody, the award certificate misspells Boebert’s name as “Boebart” and features a correction written in Sharpie. Boebert went on conservative talk show host Jesse Kelly’s program to accept the award, where they joked about the gift card for $27.43 being under the gift limit of $50 for members of Congress. Kelly then alluded to Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez being the runner up for the award. If this reality is just a simulation, someone has a very interesting sense of humor.
