đŁď¸ I hate being hyperbolic, but the way the regime and its co-conspirators are moving, they are definitely laying the groundwork for trying to cancel elections in 2026 and 2028, or make it impossible for them to be ousted. They will play it off that they're just trolling the libs, but I'm watching what they do, rather than what they say...since all they do is lie. What are your thoughts? Submitted by Jonny Minogue
â I think youâre right to pay attention to what they do, not what they say. Authoritarian regimes rarely wake up one day and declare, âWeâre canceling elections.â Itâs incrementalâchanges to voting rules, district maps, election oversight boardsâeach one defensible on paper, but together creating a system where losing is almost impossible. And yes, theyâll play it off as trolling or âowning the libsâ to keep it unserious in the publicâs mind. But the practical effect is still the same: entrenching power.
đŁď¸ David, do you think that Democrats will have a chance to win the 2026 Midterms? With what Trump is already doing trying to gain GOP seats with redistricting, it seems to me like he has already found a way to cheat that is not being addressed. Submitted by Cheri Kanaan
â If the 2026 midterms were tomorrow, Iâd be pretty pessimistic. Between aggressive gerrymandering, voter suppression, and the simple math of which seats are up, Democrats are starting in a hole. That said, itâs still two years away. Economic conditions, court decisions, turnout, and candidate quality will all matter. The problem is that redistricting is being addressed⌠just not effectively enough. And once those maps are in place, they tend to stick until the next census.
đŁď¸ Are you really thinking of leaving the U.S.? (I hope not, but I can fully see why you would be considering leaving.)
Several MAGA "influencers" have accused you of being gay. You're a straight guy: how does the accusation of being gay affect you (if at all). For the record -- I *am* gay, and I have *never* picked up anything resembling a gay vibe from you, AT ALL. Also, as a gay man, I find using "gay" as an epithet against people to be absolutely vile and offensive. Submitted by Mark Carpenter
â On leaving the U.S., what I said is I have a plan, should it become necessary. I'm choosing to live here, but thereâs no denying that politically, culturally, and in terms of safety for dissenting voices, things are getting worse. I think about it in terms of, âIs my presence here helping the work I want to do or would it be more effective elsewhere?â
On the âgayâ accusationâbeing straight, it has zero impact on me personally. But I agree with you: the idea of using âgayâ as an insult is gross, outdated, and tells you more about the accuser than the target. Itâs playground-level thinking from people who ran out of arguments a long time ago.
đŁď¸ Two questions: 1. Now that they are starting to release the Epstein files, do we really believe all the info is going to come out?
2. if they are successful in burying the important info, and the Dems re-take the House in 2026, can it be revisited at that time? Submitted by Jon
â 1. No, thereâs no reason to believe weâll get everything. In cases like this, the politically damaging parts have the highest likelihood of being withheld or redacted.
2. If Democrats win the House in 2026, they could absolutely reopen the investigation, issue subpoenas, and seek the full records. But it would depend on their political will and history tells us, even with the power to investigate, follow-through is far from guaranteed.
đŁď¸ Is it possible that along with his losing his mind -- such as it was --, Trump is also losing his vision? I notice that in each instance you showed, he fails to see someone right in front of him (central field). Submitted by Christina Keenan
â Itâs possible. Weâve seen him struggle to physically locate people right in front of him, and if thatâs consistent across events, it could point to vision issuesâanything from reduced peripheral awareness to central field problems. Of course, without a diagnosis, itâs speculation. But given his age, diet, and medical secrecy, vision loss wouldnât be shocking, and it could explain some of those awkward moments.
