Anti-Vaccine Rally a Record-Setting Horror Show
Over the weekend there was a rally in Los Angeles, California called “Defeat the Mandates” to protest COVID vaccination requirements, and it was full of wacky characters and deranged speeches. A 14-year-old “freedom activist” named Lucky Basseri gave a speech that had the ignorance of a Trumpian rant with the delivery of an evangelical church leader. Another speaker claimed they “looked at the science in Sweden” and found there were “zero deaths” from COIVD-19, a claim that is absolutely wrong and absurd. So far there have been over 18,000 confirmed deaths from the virus in Sweden. Political commentator Jimmy Dore spoke at the event, reading off a piece of paper and failing to bring the passion and delivery necessary for a strong public speaking performance. Finally, another speaker delivered the applause line that “men are not women” in what seemed totally out of place at a rally ostensibly about COVID policy. Even as vaccine mandates go away around the country, events like these persist and it’s hard to understand why they’re still happening.
THERE'S MORE: Trump & Pence Gift Records Are Missing
The gift records for Donald Trump and Mike Pence during their final year in office are missing. The State Department says it did not receive information from the president, vice president, and their respective families from the year 2020. The Executive Office of the President is supposed to submit information yearly about gifts they’ve received from foreign dignitaries to the State Department. This is in order to make sure the president and vice president keep in compliance with the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution. President Obama did this in 2009, for example, when his aides received thousands of dollars worth of jewels from the Saudi government. The Trump administration was brazen in its violations of the Emoluments Clause and this was just the latest example. Because no consequences ever came, Trump and company felt emboldened to keep skirting the laws and accepting gifts without reporting them.

Trump Cultist Crowd More Deranged Than Ever
Donald Trump did a rally over the weekend in Selma, North Carolina and some of the attendees were interviewed by the conservative propaganda outlet “Right Side Broadcasting Network.” In perhaps the best moment ever from a Trump rally interview, a little kid was asked by a reporter what he was most looking forward to about the event, and the kid said “to see Joe Biden.” The parents then had to jump in and correct him saying “Trump, Trump.” A pair of brothers were interviewed and they said while they appreciated what Right Side does, the rest of the media are “demonic” and “devils” who need to “get saved.” Finally, another Trump supporter bragged about how he “invested” $30,000 of his own money flying around the country to go to Trump rallies. The idea that going to these events is an “investment” is pretty out there, but that’s the exact type of thought process to be expected from Donald Trump’s most loyal followers.

MAGA MELTDOWN After Trump Endorses Dr. Oz
Donald Trump endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz’s candidacy for US Senator from Pennsylvania and right wingers are split over what to think about it. On the one hand, many have grown to like Dr. Oz from watching him on TV over the years, as they did Trump, and believe that alone is a worthy credential for a US lawmaker. However, other right wingers are upset with Trump for endorsing Oz as they don’t believe the doctor to be conservative enough. Sean Parnell, a former Trump-backed candidate, tweeted, “I have enormous respect for President Trump. I was honored to have his endorsement in PA. Twice. But I’m disappointed by this. Oz is the antithesis of everything that made Trump the best president of my lifetime—he’s the farthest thing from America First & he’d be very bad for PA.” Breitbart News’ Joel Pollak wrote, “this endorsement could divide MAGA in the only way that matters: he could lose America First conservatives over it.” Since Trump isn’t policy driven, he likely doesn’t care about the reasons why many conservatives oppose Oz’s candidacy. However the divide could be enough to prevent Mehmet from winning the seat in Pennsylvania or maybe even the Republican nomination.

David, sir, would you please cover the legacy of slavery in the exploitation of US labor. Workers seem to have a uniquely alienated place in American capitalism, which has recently manifested itself in derogatory comments by people like Joe Rogan. Sorry, Joe, but getting high and talking about yourself with sycophants for three hours is not working. That's a day off.
The thing in LA was an "anti-mandate" rally. Many were, indeed, anti-vaccine. That said all were "pro-choice". The evident inability to notice the difference will, with deep regret, result in lots of Democratic losses. The damage this attitude will, in turn, cause will far outweigh anything from the virus.
