Soaking Wet Trump Interview So Bad, His OWN LAWYER Can't Save Him
Donald Trump was interviewed by his own lawyer, Christina Bobb, who doubles as a “journalist” for OAN, and it still ended up being a total disaster for the failed former president. During the interview, Trump claimed the January 6th committee should be investigating Nancy Pelosi for not allowing the National Guard to protect the Capitol ahead of the “Stop the Steal” rally. Of course, there is no evidence that such a request by Trump was made or that such a request was denied by Pelosi, yet Trump keeps bogusly insisting that’s what happened. Bobb stopped pretending to be a journalist altogether and asked, “do you think Biden would look as obviously bad as he does if it hadn’t been so starkly contrasted with your huge success of an administration?” This was the perfect softball for Trump to tout why he was supposedly such a good president and why Biden is not. While Trump may enjoy these sycophantic interviews, it’s increasingly becoming clear they are not going to be enough to propel him to victory in the Republican primary.
Right Wing Meteorologist Goes Completely Mental on Tucker Carlson
Right-wing meteorologist Joe Bastardi went absolutely bonkers on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show last night when discussing the issue of climate change. Bastardi said, “next week and the week after, watch how much bad weather comes into the United States. It's going to be the coldest, snowiest period around the Christmas time since 2000.” Bastardi is doing a glorified version of the “it snows in winter” argument as a way to supposedly disprove climate change. Then, Joe made it seem like those who warn about the dangers of climate change have some ulterior motive. He said, “what's happened is these people have taken advantage of people who fall prey to this. And this is what they're doing. There's no logical reason for it, except they are trying to establish a caste system.” In fact, it is people like Joe who stand to gain from climate denial, since it’s the fossil fuel industry that has large sums of money ready to be issued to those willing to push their agenda and disagree with the overwhelming majority of the scientific community.

Kyrsten Sinema Abandons Democratic Party, Becomes Independent
Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced late last week that she will be leaving the Democratic Party and will serve in the Senate as an independent. Sinema went on CNN with Jake Tapper to explain her decision. She said, “I've registered as an Arizona independent. I know some people might be a little bit surprised by this, but actually, I think it makes a lot of sense. A growing number of Arizonans and people like me just don't feel like we fit neatly into one party's box or the other. And so like many across the state and the nation, I've decided to leave that partisan process and really just focus on the work that I think matters to Arizona and to our country, which is solving problems and getting things done.” Sinema is likely to keep caucusing with the Democrats, so this isn’t likely to affect Dems’ 51 to 49 seat majority in the upper chamber. However, it does increase the likelihood Sinema will get reelected in Arizona, since she no longer has to worry about facing a progressive challenger in a Democratic primary.
From yesterday’s show:
The New Gay Marriage Bill Doesn't Actually Guarantee Gay Marriage
Today, President Biden signed into law the Respect for Marriage Act. The idea for the bill was to codify same-sex marriage in order to protect it from the right-wing Supreme Court which may inevitably strike down the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision. But if you look at the text of the bill it doesn’t actually do that. The Respect for Marriage Act will require states to recognize same-sex marriages that were entered into in other states. However, it does not require states to issue their own same-sex marriage licenses. This means that if the Obergefell decision was overturned, red states would have the power to deny issuing their own same-sex couples’ marriage licenses. Certainly, the legislation offers some protection and it’s better than nothing, but this is not exactly the codifying of equal marriage that it’s being sold as.
