PAINFUL Anti-Choice Cringe at Supreme Court
Jesse Dollemore, friend of the show and host of “Dollemore Daily” and the “I Doubt It” podcast, interviewed protesters outside of the Supreme Court yesterday in the wake of the leaked ruling that Roe vs. Wade is expected to be overturned. One person Jesse interviewed said that while he agrees with the ruling, the fact that it was leaked is the true issue. After the interviewee said he was pro-life, Jesse asked him if he supported SNAP benefits and the Child Tax Credit, which he refused to answer. Another person Jesse interviewed was dressed as a priest with a shirt over his robe calling out a list of things he believed to be immoral. The man ranted about how it was supposedly a problem that a zoo he went to didn’t have any gay animals, but that gay people exist in society. Jesse point blank said to the man “you’re a bigot,” to which the man being interviewed surprisingly agreed. Surely there will be more of these types of exchanges to come with abortion quickly becoming the hotly contested issue of the year.
Trump-Endorsed Extremist Wins Primary, More Results
Yesterday was primary day in Ohio and Indiana and the major headline was that JD Vance defeated Josh Mandel to win the Republican nomination for US Senator from Ohio. Vance was endorsed by Trump, although Trump did confuse his name at a recent rally, calling him “JP” and then “JD Mandel.” On the Democratic side, Tim Ryan won the primary by an overwhelming margin, setting up what is expected to be a tight battle between Ryan and Vance in November. There was also a highly publicized Democratic primary in Ohio’s 11th congressional district. Incumbent Congresswoman Shontel Brown defeated former Bernie Sanders Campaign Co-Chair Nina Tuner by a wide margin, 66% to 34%. There are plenty more primaries to come over the next few weeks and months, setting up for the all-important midterm elections in November.
WHOA: Trump Wanted to Have BLM Protesters Shot
There is a new book coming out from Donald Trump’s former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper which claims that the ex-president wanted to have Black Lives Matter protesters shot in the summer of 2020. The book is called A Sacred Oath and it claims that Trump said, “can't you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?” Esper followed up by saying, it “wasn’t a difficult decision” to say no, but that the bad news was “I had to figure out a way to walk Trump back without creating the mess I was trying to avoid.” Republicans claim nowadays to be the party of “free speech” and yet their leader wanted to have people shot for simply exercising their First Amendment rights. This information would have been valuable to know at the time it happened, not two years later when a former Trump administration official is trying to sell a book.
Trump's Truth Social Has a TON of "Free Speech" Restrictions
It turns out that Truth Social, Donald Trump’s new social media site, has many of the same restrictions that other social media platforms have. This normally wouldn’t be an issue, however, Truth Social is marketed as a “free speech” alternative to sites like Twitter and Facebook, which right wingers deem to be too censorious. On Truth Social, a post can be taken down for intellectual property infringement, sensitive content, privacy violations, doxxing, and other reasons. With all of these restrictions, it doesn’t appear that Truth Social has any value as a social media app, since it has many of the same rules as its competitors with far fewer users. Perhaps that’s why Trump himself only got around to posting his first “Truth” last week. The former president wrote, “I'M BACK! #COVFEFE.” With the news of Elon Musk buying Twitter and the likelihood that Trump will be able to return to the platform soon, this new venture has even less of a point than initially imagined.
