Worth noting: Epstein himself claimed he introduced Donald and Melania, and the modeling agent who officially made the introduction, Paolo Zampolli, had documented ties to Epstein and Maxwell. Melania was photographed with both Epstein and Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago in 2000. She's successfully forced media retractions on the introduction claim through legal threats.

Yet she faced zero scrutiny from the base that now demands Usha Vance convert to Christianity. Melania's Epstein proximity got a pass. Usha's Hinduism is disqualifying.

The purity test is who gets counted as acceptable regardless of evidence, and who gets excluded regardless of qualifications.

The base that screamed about Epstein files for years gave Melania complete immunity while she was literally photographed with him. But a Hindu-born American woman married to their VP candidate is the problem. That tells you what the test actually measures.

The Frankenstein metaphor is perfct here. They spent years building a movement based on exclusion and purity tests, now its eating its own. Vance publicly floating his wife's potential conversion to Christianity is such an obvious preemptive political move. The contrast with how Melania was treated versus how Usha is being recieved shows the racial and religious litmus test at work. When the culture war you weaponized starts targeting your own family, that's not cancel culture, that's just consequenses.

Impressive pelvic pressure between the widow Kirk & JackulateDweeb Vance.

Likely he never had one of his couches hug him so intimately.

Be sure to have an 'air sickness bag' at hand if you watch 'the hug' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcUFTR2HYYE

Pete Buttigieg summed up Vance best when interviewed the other day.

Buttigieg said of Vance, “If it’s convenient for him to be a fascist, he’ll be a fascist. Maybe later on, he’ll go back to being a Silicon Valley Democrat. He’ll be whatever he needs to be.”

Of course this sort of unhinged/shameless hunger for power and advancement is every bit as frightening and disturbing as any right-wing ideology.

There seems to be no shortage of this amongst the MAGA crowd, particularly as they flee their sinking, stinking Trump. All one need do is look at MTG to see the less nuanced and more obvious version of chameleon Vance.

I hope she leaves him and takes herself out of the game. They want to make JD have a more All American family facade. Makes perfect sense why they got rid of Charlie now.

I hope she gets out too. Abandoning Usha for the "better optics" of Erika as First Lady...the hipocrisy is revolting. His association with Trump alone might damage his political aspirations, but that could finish him.

I thought about this too, but I think there's too much damage now to Trump. These people are unpredicrable and seem willing to rationalize anything, so I guess we'll see just how much they're willing to swallow.

This smacks of the John Edwards saga. He was VP candidate with John Kerry in 2008. While his wife is dying of cancer he fathers a child with another woman. Then gets caught up in campaign contributions allegedly to quiet the other woman.

Point being, dumping your wife for political advantage not a good move. The press will not let you live it down.

But Edwards was a Democrat. It doesn't matter if you are a Republican.

I feel like they’re going to use her unwillingness to change her religion against her and that will make it “ok” for him to divorce her. Really no other reason for him to have said recently that he “hopes she’ll convert”.

JD Vance will never command the same power as Trump, even if Trump were to die of old age tomorrow. Not only is MAGA a cult of personality, it is also comprised at it's core of racists and 'Evangelical Christians', but it also includes those who 'worship' wealth, and Trump is the icon of the form of wealth these 'worshippers' understand. Yes, there are also the MAGA culture warriors and those who want a dictatorship (where 'their' kind is at the top), but Vance does not have any special advantage there whereas Trump has always lived the entitled life, with 'assumed' power. The fact that Trump is a rapist, and most certainly a pedophile, cheated on each of his wives, does not bother them at all, in fact it just makes him look 'stronger' to them, more heterosexual.

The No Religious Test Clause of the United States Constitution is a clause within Article VI, Clause 3:

Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

"Now that same purity test might derail his own political future." And it should, if he doesn't get out in front of this important teaching moment. Usha represents the American philosophy of inclusiveness, even if we don't always honor what we claim to believe.

Yup! Thats why he floated the whole “she should convert” thing publicly, all of the sudden, drawing attention to Usha. Now when she doesn’t convert… and you can bet she’ll be paid off somehow to not…. The way is clear for him to marry any ol’ skanky blonde they want. But Erika will do very nicely for their purposes.

Not that I personally know Usha Vance, but from what I/we have seen of her and her hypocrite husband the last couple of years, it is very difficult to imagine her staying in the marriage. I'm guessing she was dismayed at JD's turnabout when he decided to be Dump's VP.

There are several problems confronting Vance and his wife is among the least of them. His being as deeply beholden to Peter Thiel is very concerning as is the dawning realization by an ever increasing number of Americans that the “christian nationalists” he fronts for are, in verifiable fact, very far away from being a “christian” movement. Then there is the matter of his knowledge of the close, personal relationship his boss has with pedophilia. His claim that he had no knowledge of it has as much probability of flying as does a pig made of lead. Finally there is the simple fact that the vast majority of maga’s members do not like him nor will they support him - and that, all by itself, could spell the end of his political career.
