WOW: Trump CRUSHES Anti-Vaccine OAN
Remarkably, Donald Trump is acting as the voice of reason when speaking to far right-wing outlets and personalities about the COVID vaccines. Trump did an interview with One America News Network and was softly confronted by the reporter, Dan Ball, who tried to simultaneously give Trump credit for developing the vaccines while also claiming that they’re causing dangerous side effects. To his credit, Trump was able to dismantle the propaganda. He said, “I think the vaccine has saved tens of millions of people throughout the world. I’ve had absolutely no side effects. I’ve had it like other people have had it, nothing special.” More than anything else, Trump wants to talk about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines as a way to take credit for Operation Warp Speed. But whatever the reason is, it’s good that he’s doing it and offering some pushback against these conspiratorial networks that many of his followers watch on a daily basis.
Joe Rogan Learns He's Wrong About COVID Vaccines
Joe Rogan has been getting a bunch of scrutiny in recent months over his refusal to get the COVID vaccine and in some cases spreading anti-vax talking points. Rogan was taken to task on this topic by Australian media personality Josh Zepps, who appeared on his podcast earlier this week. The two got to talking about the possibility of the vaccines causing myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) particularly in young men and boys. Zepps astutely pointed out that the risk of getting myocarditis is higher from getting COVID than getting the COVID vaccine and pointed Rogan to a peer-reviewed study showing this. Expressing resistance to the new information, Joe tried moving the goal posts before saying, “that is not what I’ve read before, but also it’s like, well, even when we’re reading these things, it’s like, what are we getting this from?” This is a common reaction for people who are set in their beliefs and part of why it’s so difficult to unravel some of these anti-vax talking points.
From yesterday’s show:
OH NO: Biden/Harris So Uninspiring, They're Talking About Hillary Again
There is serious talk among Democratic insiders about pushing Hillary Clinton to run for president again in 2024. Some in the party have grown frustrated with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s subpar approval ratings and lack of accomplishments. For some reason, they believe the remedy to this and Democrats’ best chance of winning again will be yet another Hillary Clinton candidacy. Their logic is that much of the American public is now aware that it was a mistake to have chosen Donald Trump over Hillary, so there is no better way to hammer that point home than to propel her into the White House. This thought process is flawed for a few reasons, starting with Biden’s approval rating not being as bad as many are making it out to be. According to FiveThirtyEight, in an aggregate of polls, Biden has an approval rating of 43.2%. It’s not clear that if Hillary were to launch another run, that she would be able to register any better than that. While it’s okay to explore options like this, this one sounds like a disaster in the making.
From yesterday’s show:
Ted Cruz Promotes Tucker's Conspiracy at Senate Hearing
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is trying his best to recover his reputation after calling those who attacked cops on January 6, 2021 “terrorists” and having to go on Tucker Carlson’s program to apologize. Cruz questioned an official from the Department of Justice about a person of interest named Ray Epps. Conspiracy theorists like Tucker Carlson have been focusing on Epps recently, believing that he was an FBI insider and was involved in convincing Trump supporters to storm the Capitol that day. Cruz asked a number of questions at the hearing that could not be answered due to confidentiality and the whole thing was a charade to make this theory sound plausible. The Texas senator said things like, “did any FBI agents or confidential informants actively participate in the events of January 6th, yes or no?” He also asked “who is Ray Epps?” before pointing to a poster of him and insinuating he was an insider for the feds. With the DOJ official unable to provide simple answers to these questions, people could easily come away thinking that there is something to this conspiracy theory and that was exactly Ted Cruz’s goal.
