COVERUP: Trump Jan 6 Call Logs Have 7-Hour Gap
After months of avoiding handing over call records to the January 6th congressional committee, Donald Trump’s team finally turned over some of the logs in question. However, there is a notable seven-hour gap in the records corresponding to the key hours when the Capitol riots were unfolding. These seven hours are of course the most important, as the committee needs to know who Trump was speaking to and what he was saying while the Capitol building was being taken over. The rest of the records show that the then-president was active during the day, speaking to at least eight people in the morning and eleven in the evening. But due to Trump’s obstruction, it’s unknown how many more people he spoke to between 11:17 am and 6:54 pm. The desperate attempts to keep this information private suggests that Trump has a lot to hide, including potential criminality. Although he’s been able to shield it for now, it’s unclear whether he’ll be able to keep doing so as this investigation persists.
Media Pretends Biden Wants to Invade Russia & Kill Putin
Recently, Joe Biden took a lot of heat for an ad lib remark during a speech about the Russian invasion of Ukraine when he said “for God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.” Biden was referring to Vladimir Putin, and some in the media believed he meant that the United States’ official policy is one supporting regime change in Russia. This prompted the American president to clarify his statement, saying he simply hopes the Russian people takes it upon themselves to elect a different leader. The media have been pressing Biden on this ad lib ever since he made it saying things like “do your words complicate matters?” One reporter asked, “do you understand why people would believe you, as someone commanding one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world saying someone cannot remain in power is a statement of US policy?” Biden did his best to disregard these questions, but no matter how much he tried, he keeps getting asked about it as if it’s the biggest story in the country right now.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Sues Hillary in Bizarre Sprawling Lawsuit
Donald Trump is suing Hillary Clinton and several other Democrats in a strange, sprawling lawsuit related to the 2016 election. Trump argues that Clinton and her allies tried to rig the election by alleging he colluded with the Russian government. Also getting sued are John Podesta, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page. Trump argues he was the victim of racketeering and a “conspiracy to commit injurious falsehood.” He is seeking an amount in damages totaling more than $24 million. This lawsuit is likely going nowhere for a few reasons, the first of which being the allegations of Trump having a connection to Russia really only got going after Trump had won the presidency. Furthermore, even though the years-long probe into the matter didn’t establish direct collusion, it did find Trump had committed obstruction of justice and more than 30 of his allies were charged as a result of it. This lawsuit will likely get dismissed right away, but for now the former president can brag about this at rallies and get the crowd to cheer about him suing Hillary Clinton and company.
From yesterday’s show:
"Pro-Life" Republicans Debate Whether to Kill Women Who Have Abortions
So-called pro-life Republicans in Texas are now debating whether women who have abortions should be killed. In a runoff race for a State House seat representing the suburbs of Fort Worth, candidates State Rep. Stephanie Klick and her challenger David Lowe spoke about a bill in the House from last session that would have made terminating a pregnancy a capital crime. Lowe said about it, “I’m not even a fan of the death penalty,” but then followed up, “do we all agree that abortion is murder? Absolutely. There should be consequences for it.” Klick responded by saying that while she wants to abolish abortion, giving women the death penalty for having one goes too far. Even just a few years ago it was standard practice for Republicans to say they’d like to see the doctors who administer abortions get punished but stopped short of saying the punishment should extend to the women. Now, because Roe vs. Wade is in jeopardy and states around the country are passing restrictive abortion bans, these right wingers are feeling emboldened to get even more draconian on the issue.
