MAGAs Crush Liz Cheney for Admitting Trump Lost Election
Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney lost her GOP primary race yesterday to Trump-endorsed challenger Harriet Hageman, making it clear that Donald Trump and his “big lie” still have a grip on the Republican Party. The results weren’t even close, with Hageman getting 66.3% of the vote and Cheney getting 28.9%. On policy matters, the two candidates were virtually identical, but policy doesn’t really matter to Republicans anymore. The key issue in this race like so many others was about whether Trump actually lost the 2020 election or if he was a victim of widespread voter fraud. Cheney said in her concession speech that she could have easily won her seat again, “but it would have required that I go along with President Trump’s lie about the 2020 election. It would have required that I enable his ongoing efforts to unravel our democratic system and attack the foundations of our republic. That was a path that I could not and would not take.” There’s now talk of Cheney running for president in 2024, but with her being unliked by progressives and MAGA-types alike, her road to victory would be a difficult one.
Rudy Giuliani Panicking, Wants to "Die a Free Man"
Rudy Giuliani is panicking over the possibility that he’ll end up in prison and worries that he won’t “die a free man” as his former press secretary put it. Giuliani has to appear before a Georgia grand jury and is the target of Fani Willis’s investigation in Fulton County, meaning there’s a high likelihood that he will be charged with crimes. Rudy tried getting his lawyers to argue that he’s in no condition to travel, which the judge disagreed with, since he travels around the country all the time as he did during the aftermath of the 2020 election. It’s clear that Giuliani’s strategy is to delay the investigation for as long as possible because he doesn’t believe a criminal trial would go well for him. Rudy put himself in this mess by doing Donald Trump’s bidding and thinking he would get rewarded for it. Instead, he’s probably now realizing it was all a huge mistake as he’s desperate for money and uncertain whether he’ll be able to avoid prison time.
From yesterday’s show:
Andrew Yang CNN Interview Goes Really Badly
Andrew Yang, former presidential and New York City mayoral candidate, went on CNN to talk about the third party he’s launching called the Forward Party. Unfortunately for him, the interview didn’t go all that smoothly as Yang could not articulate the specific stance of the party on any political issue and instead kept repeating that the party will take a “common sense consensus view.” When asked by anchor Jim Acosta about abortion rights, Yang said, “the Forward Party has not a left or right but forward stance on even the most divisive and contentious issues.” When Acosta asked about gun control, Yang diverted by talking about how gridlock in Washington prevents the two major parties from getting anything done. Yang is an affable guy with some good ideas but Acosta was right that his Forward Party sounds like a “fill in the blank party if somebody wants a party with no clear policy positions.”
From yesterday’s show:
BREAKING: Rudy Giuliani Under Criminal Investigation
Rudy Giuliani, former New York City Mayor and Trump lawyer, has been informed that he is under criminal investigation for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. Prosecutors asked witnesses before a special grand jury about the testimonies Giuliani gave before the state legislature wherein he talked about supposed election rigging and faulty vote counting machines. The inquiry is being run by Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney, who is also investigating whether Donald Trump committed crimes by trying to pressure state election officials to change the vote tallies. Both Giuliani and Trump have gone from the highest positions of power in the country to on the verge of getting put through the criminal justice system and potentially even sent to prison.
