There is no way that Trump was ever going to anoint his own successor. The whole reason for keeping only the most incompetent people around him is because they are the least likely to challenge him. There is no one being groomed. No short list. Anyone who looked like they might be a replacement had the rug pulled out.
I could see him anointing one of his sons, maybe Barron. But I'm not sure. There was a time when I did think it was a certainty, but not any more. For sure he will NOT anoint any of his weak assed sycophants.
While I celebrate the gradual but inevitable shift away, I have to wonder what will replace it. There are still rabid magats that will always be magats and now that they've had a taste of 'the good life' its going to be even harder to push them back into the ooze they floated out of. What that looks like i do the know but I do expect that there will be some really weird and wild fringe elements screaming and shouting hopefully relegated to the sidelines but I just dont know. Lest we forget we have the most conservative court in memory and there are still a lot of leaders in government that are full blown asshats. I dont know ow how this washes out but im hoping for a clean separation.

Another commentator on the political scene said something similar that the base is separating from Trump but they are not changing their tunes, they are getting worse. In effect, the Republican and Maga base, in particular the younger ones, could become something much worse and the current social media landscape reinforces that trajectory.
Yes and a commitment to give the electorate something to vote for and not just something to vote against. Term limits, universal healthcare. Independence for DOJ, Fed and Bureau of Labor Stats so no party can rig the system. Limit power to pardon so it is not for sale. Stop big money in elections.
Major overhaul of legal system to stop unlimited appeals and establish meaningful timeframes so verdicts have consequences. The EJ Carol case is still years away from resolution. Holdup is because T is President, as such should have been resolved before he became president or if not, he should have been ineligible for office. No candidate for any office should have pending litigation facing them regardless of criminal or civil.
Canada has it right. Instead of challenging a bully face to face, use silence. Undercut with reciprocal tariffs and stop buying high ticket items like F35s. Hitting Repubs in the pocketbook only way to get greedy, selfish attention.
