We interviewed Trump supporters, goes HORRIBLY WRONG
Luke Beasley conducted interviews with Trump supporters in Fort Dodge, Iowa over the weekend, and they were marked by overt anti-Semitism, explicit conspiratorial thinking, and a dismissive attitude toward evidence and facts. The rally-goers spent much of the time deflecting and denying controversial statements made by Trump, showcasing the challenges of engaging with their perspectives. From downplaying statements about suspending the Constitution to dismissing credible figures in favor of Trump's credibility, these interactions highlight the complexity of Trump’s stranglehold on the American right wing. Luke also had to battle with false claims about the 2020 election and the claim that there were more votes than voters in Wisconsin. This incident should be a wake-up call for the crucial role of widespread civic engagement, urging people to vote to prevent the normalization of extreme and unfounded beliefs in the electorate.
Trump's lawyer & her husband owe $1 million+ in liens and warrants
In a recent report, Donald Trump's lawyer, Alina Habba, and her husband face over $1 million in liens and warrants. Liens, legal claims against property due to outstanding debts, and warrants, legal documents for unpaid taxes, underscore financial challenges for Habba and her husband. Alina has two active liens in Maine totaling over $1,100, and her husband faces substantial state tax warrants in New York, owing large sums for unpaid taxes, raising questions about the kind of people Trump surrounds himself with. It also puts into question Habba’s legal competence and whether her financial issues align with Trump's patterns.
From yesterday’s show:
George Santos used campaign donations for OnlyFans and Botox
Disgraced Republican Congressman George Santos will not seek reelection amid shocking revelations about his misuse of campaign funds. The New York Times reported that Santos spent donors' money on extravagant personal expenses, including $6,000 at Ferragamo, cash withdrawals for casino visits, rent payments, and even small purchases on OnlyFans. House ethics investigators uncovered a pattern of systematic fraud and dishonesty, with Santos lying about his past accomplishments, education, and family to solicit donations. Santos's deceptive spending practices, combined with his dishonest demeanor, construct a web of falsehoods that has ultimately led to his choice not to pursue reelection.
From yesterday’s show:
Ron DeSantis WILL NOT CONDEMN Elon Musk's antisemitic conspiracy theory
During a recent interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declined to condemn Elon Musk's endorsement of an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Tapper confronted DeSantis about major companies withdrawing ads due to Musk's support for the conspiracy theory, alleging that Jews are conspiring to replace white Americans with minority immigrants. Despite Tapper presenting the comments to DeSantis, the governor claimed he hadn't seen them and avoided condemning Musk's stance. DeSantis defended Musk, depicting him as a victim facing backlash since purchasing Twitter, and when pressed again, he failed to condemn the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory, citing a lack of context and understanding. The interview also delved into Musk's legal threats against critics of the platform, suggesting broader concerns about its content. This refusal to condemn Musk's endorsement adds to a pattern of DeSantis avoiding condemnation in similar situations, as observed in his response to neo-Nazi demonstrators at his events in the past.
