Mike Lindell Debases Himself in Jimmy Kimmel Appearance
MyPillow guy Mike Lindell had a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel wherein he was put inside of a claw machine for the duration of the interview. Kimmel said to Lindell that he was surprised he accepted the request, but was glad that he did so. It also offered Pillow an opportunity to complain about “rigged machines,” like how claw machines are rigged to rarely award players the toys inside. Kimmel asked whether he had to run the interview by Donald Trump, and Lindell responded he did the interview on his own, without seeking the advice of the former president. It’s strange, yet not surprising, that Lindell would appear for such a cringeworthy and embarrassing interview. Anyone else would have to be concerned about losing credibility, but luckily for Lindell, he doesn’t have anything left to lose.
MTG Wages War on CRT and Drag Queen Story Hour
A congressional hearing took place where Marjorie Taylor Greene questioned Gene Dodaro, head of the US Government Accountability Office, about COVID relief funds. Greene asked Dodaro about how much COVID money went to Critical Race Theory (CRT) and drag queen story hour. Dodaro stated that he did not know how much money went to CRT, but that federal funds are generally not used for curriculum, which is a state responsibility. Greene's questions about CRT and drag queen story hour were widely criticized for being absurd and uninformed. Greene hasn’t spent too much time on committees during her congressional career, and it shows since she had trouble asking questions and making the points she was trying to make.
From yesterday’s show:
George Santos Steps Down From Committees
Disgraced Congressman George Santos has resigned from his committee assignments granted to him by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy due to ongoing personal and campaign finance investigations. Santos issued a statement saying he would be recused from the House Committee on Small Business and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology until he is cleared. Given Santos’s defiance in the past, it’s likely that his resignation from committees is not genuine and that he was forced off his committees by Kevin McCarthy for unknown reasons. Perhaps the House Speaker did this because he knows that something is coming down the line or that Santos' resignation would complicate the Republican Party's mission to remove Ilhan Omar from her post on the Foreign Affairs Committee. Whatever the reason is, there finally looks to be some sort of consequence for Santos’s pathological lying, and hopefully, he’s soon forced to resign from Congress altogether.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Unveils "Policy" Objectives for 2024 (LOL)
Donald Trump’s campaign put out a bizarre video of the ex-president explaining what his “policy” objectives are going to be if he’s able to win office again in 2024. But of course, the issues he decided to put at the forefront are culture war nonsense made to rile up the right-wing base but not actually to make anyone’s lives better. Trump said in the video, “as part of our new credentialing body for teachers, we will promote positive education about the nuclear family, the roles of mothers and fathers, and celebrating rather than erasing the things that make men and women different and unique. I will ask Congress to pass a bill establishing that the only genders recognized by the United States government are male and female, and they are assigned at birth.” Trump likely realizes that in order to defeat Ron DeSantis in the Republican primary, he has to focus on these types of matters that for some reason the right happens to care deeply about.
