My dad had a crazy first cousin who didn't like the choices of organized churches, so she kept inventing her own denomination. This happened several times. I remember one Sunday afternoon when we drove up to Michigan to visit her, and we ended up in a big tent in the middle of a corn field, listening to a sermon. I got really good as a kid tuning out the sermons. I did like the singing, though. Holy Week we went to church almost every night. As a young mom the week wasn't complete without going to church on Sunday morning. As one member said, during the week we go out in the world, and on Sunday we come back to our family. I loved it. Then the preacher was found to have committed adultery with another member's wife, and the Methodist Church revoked his job. Frank was such "glue" that when he left, his church feel apart. I never found another church home. That was in the early 1970s. A couple of years ago I came to the personal conclusion that God was like Santa Claus -- imaginary. I was disappointed, but realized that I had relied on my own efforts my whole life anyway. No more worry about heaven or hell. I'll be happy to put my minerals back into Mother Earth who nursed me my whole life. I'm 87 and in good health, but I don't want to live past 100. I see your anger. I have only calm and bliss.
