Honestly, the tattoo was the red flag for me. I didn’t believe he should be the candidate way back then. But all around me people were making excuses for him and the sentiment was that he was a changed man and besides “We have to get rid of Susan Collins” as if his character was not the issue. I believe for any elected official it is ENTIRELY about character. Are we democrats so focused on taking back congress that we have lost our moral compass? It’s ok to have an adjudicated rapist and felon in the White House so we go with whoever steps up. NO MEANS NO. There’s no grey area around consent. Platner must step aside so that someone else can be elected.
Aside from Trump ever being elected, the second mystery has to be Senators (and Reps) falling in love with him. In my decades of watching DC politics, I have never seen a political party so enamored with a president. In their eyes, he can do no wrong. Shame on them for coasting along to get along.
Trump was a political nobody before he invaded our lives. He is totally lacking in every category like integrity and the ability to give a speech. He has no charisma, lacks any sense of sincerity and empathy and is always mad about something.
Senators by nature are not shy. They have to be pretty tough to get elected. So along comes Trump and they act like chickens getting ready to feed. The president is not the Messiah and his attempt to use Christianity to justify his actions is reprehensible. This is more like the Israelis in the wilderness bowing down to the Golden Bull. Shame on the religious leaders who give him cover. Here is a man who has broken most of the commandments and yet his supporters want the 10 commandments posted in every school. No wonder church attendance is falling.
