Spot on! The problem is not the debate itself, but rather the intended purpose of the debate. However, while presidential debates are somewhat useless, debates in general, when framed correctly, are an effective tool to find common ground. At the beginning of a debate, the goal ought to be "a search for collective truth." We don't engage to "win" or change someone's point of view, but rather to share our own perspective, and listen to those of others with a focus on better understanding the differences among us.

Although I "hear" what you're saying. At least the people that are going to watch it for Trump will be exposed to some truths. They most likely won't believe them, but it will still be out there. In this case, especially, Trump is not going to be showing at his best. He might even go into some of his demensia moments which might confuse them. I think it's worth doing...not to have someone "win" but just to get info out there that the right wing propaganda media is covering up or lying about. Or, for whatever reason, the mainstream media is not reporting, like Biden's accomplishments.

It will depend on whether or not the moderators will ENFORCE DECORUM between the two candidates. Will it be informative, and therefore worthwhile, or will DJT be allowed to behave like the belligerent 13 year old that he portrays in the rest of his live?

Debates may be mostly a waste of time, but in an election where who wins may depend on a small percentage of voters in a handful of states, seems like it's still worth a try. what is more likely to determine the election is turnout, obviously. I suggest as many of you out there as possible sign up for phone banking in swing states. They'll be lots of choices, through the DCCC, Third Act, and others. sounds horrible, but it's not that bad! I did it for 6 weeks 6 hours a day to try to turn Florida blue. okay, maybe that didn't happen, but you never know and it's worth. try. and you'll feel better for doing it. just make sure that people know where to drop off their ballots if voting by mail, sign the back of the ballot and start out with "I'm not asking for any money just a moment of your time to try and help you if you have any questions about voting". The majority of people are kind. We can do this!!!! love you, David. thanks for being there.

People who are legally blind cannot read without a magnifying glass which you have to move from word to word. If this happens again, I'm going to unsubscribe. I've been a fan of David for years and I really resent that I can't read some of the things that eat. Comments about period I am using voice activation. So I hope the words come out correctly. So the next time I can't see or listen to his monolog then I'm outta here.
