There is no 100% certain way to confirm Dementia or Alzheimer’s (until the patient is dead) but there are PRACTICAL ways to figure out "Yeah, they are having problems" You do not need absolute confirmation to legally act upon the reality that a person has 'problems'.
Here is a thought experiment: A person is doing horrible things causing death and damage to lots of people. Do we blame it on the person being inherently Evil? Or should we asssume it is due to gross incompetence? How about some major personality disorder? Perhaps an advanced stage of Dementia? Answer: It might be one or more or even all of the above, it just does not matter. Put that person in a place where they can no longer cause harm to others.
What does it take to realize the person is not functioning as a person should function? Asking for 'confirmed evidence' beyond the massive amount of evidence already part of the public record is just buying into the perpetual 'moving of the goal posts'. Biden is still much more coherent and competent than Trump ever was, and yet 'everybody' agreed he was past his "best used by" date. Trump is going downhill fast. Call it for what it is and stop pussyfooting around it. Call it Dementia and let him sue. It puts the burden of proof on Trump if he is declaring calling him demented is defamation. PLENTY of evidence to show calling him Demented is an analysis made in good faith. There are professionals who have seen for a long time the mental problems Trump has (let's face it, 'All of the above').
cognitive and memory tests like MMSE, SAGE, and GPCOG good for? Also why are brain scans like CT, MRI, or PET used to see amyloid plaques found n Alzheimer's? Is it just a money-grab from brain doctors and hospitals?
"Think of dementia as a symptom cluster (like "fever"), and Alzheimer's as a primary cause (like "flu"), but other causes for dementia exist, such as vascular issues or Lewy bodies."
"Confirming dementia requires a comprehensive evaluation by a doctor, which includes ruling out other medical issues and conducting a series of tests. A diagnosis involves a medical history, physical and neurological exams, lab tests, and brain imaging like CT, MRI, or PET scans. Cognitive tests, such as the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), are also used to assess memory and mental abilities."
"Confirming Alzheimer's involves a comprehensive medical workup, as there's no single test, but doctors use medical history, cognitive assessments, neurological exams, brain imaging (MRI, PET), and blood/cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tests to rule out other conditions and find biological markers like amyloid plaques and tau tangles, leading to a strong clinical diagnosis, though brain tissue analysis after death is the only 100% sure method."
Let us face it, With regards to Trump, they cry and weep about how unfair the press is, how democrats lie and they will claim fraud, scam, cheating (all of this is projection) and so the goal posts move until you have to have absolute scientific proof, and then they will attack that and discard it etc... Just like they do with vaccines. Trump will never allow his MRI, let alone all the other tests to be performed, or even the ACTUAL results of the test he keeps taking and "Aceing". But it does not take all those test to prove he has a problem, and if he is not getting better, it means it is a problem the best doctors cannot fix. So, most likely Alzheimers.
"Alzheimer's treatment focuses on slowing progression" There is no cure for it. Best you can do is slow down the downward slide. The earlier you catch it, the earlier you can start slowing it down. That assumes the person is willing to admit to their problem and accept the treatments. People with memory problems do not remember what you tell them they forgot, so they do not necessariy believe you.
