Trump speaks to empty chairs in slurring rally
After Thursday night’s debate, Donald Trump continued his campaign with rallies showing concerning signs of decline. Reports highlight Trump speaking to sparse crowds in Chesapeake, Virginia, with numerous empty chairs and incidents of slurred speech, notably struggling to articulate words like "landslide." His remarks included confused rants on electric vehicles, demonstrating a lack of understanding about technology and climate change, dismissing global warming as merely warm weather. Trump also vowed to withhold funding from public schools with vaccine mandates, despite misunderstanding that such mandates are not exclusive to COVID-19 vaccines but apply universally to ensure public health standards. Critics argue that Trump's erratic behavior and factual inaccuracies raise serious doubts about his fitness for office, contrasting sharply with the strategic questions surrounding Biden's candidacy.
ABSOLUTE CHAOS after Biden debate fail, Trump CONVINCED he will win
Following President Joe Biden's poor debate performance last week, the 2024 presidential election faces a critical juncture with competing narratives on its impact. One perspective argues that Biden's display was so damaging that he should drop out to avoid certain defeat against Donald Trump, emphasizing the debate's perceived role in shaping voter sentiment. Conversely, experts like Allan Lichtman suggest that debates have minimal sway compared to factors like incumbency and economic conditions, with the debate's lower viewership further diminishing its influence. The prospect of replacing Biden raises concerns about democratic processes and potential voter alienation within the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, Trump's own flawed performance during the debate highlights broader uncertainties in voter preferences. Amid calls for leadership changes, sustained polling trends and public reactions will likely shape Biden's decision moving forward, while the overarching goal remains preventing a Trump presidency.

A Supreme Court Justice is missing and they're not saying why
Conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's recent absence from the court has sparked significant speculation, as he missed two consecutive days during a critical period when the court was issuing end-of-term decisions. The court had not initially provided an explanation for his absence, prompting questions and concerns. Newsweek reported that this could potentially extend the court's term into July to finalize opinions on remaining undecided cases. The most benign explanation suggests it might be due to a personal or health issue that Alito prefers to keep private. However, darker speculation involves the potential impact on high-profile cases concerning former President Trump, including rulings on Trump's immunity from prosecution and the prosecution of January 6th rioters. Alito's absence could delay these rulings, pushing trial dates closer to or beyond the upcoming presidential election, and raising concerns about judicial tactics to influence the timing of legal proceedings related to Trump.
From over the weekend:
0 of 500 Fortune 500 CEOs supporting Trump
None of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are supporting Donald Trump, as highlighted by Jeffrey Sonnenfeld from the Chief Executive Leadership Institute on CNBC. Historically, 40-60% of Fortune 500 CEOs have supported Republican candidates, but now, zero are backing Trump. Many CEOs have expressed concerns over Trump's economic policies, describing them as inflationary and harmful to the GDP. Specific issues include across-the-board tariffs and a $5 trillion tax cut with no corresponding spending cuts. CEOs perceive Trump's economic agenda as chaotic and unstable, which threatens investor confidence and business planning. Despite their criticisms of some Biden administration policies, these CEOs may reluctantly support Biden, viewing him as a more stable choice. This situation challenges the notion that Republicans are inherently better for business. Historically, metrics like job creation, GDP growth, and stock market performance have favored Democratic presidents. Thus, the collective stance of these CEOs underscores a broader market and economic reality: stability and predictability are paramount, and they currently view Trump as a destabilizing force.

Hi David, As a Canadian looking in on the US political scene it is amazing to me that a felon can run for the Presidency? How can this be allowed? I didn't think a felon could even vote in the election? Can you address these questions.
Hi, David: I’m sick to my stomach about the supreme court’s ruling on Trump’s immunity. If you follow their reasoning, Nixon would never have had to turn over the Watergate tapes. He could claim immunity & thumb his nose at Congess & the courts. What can we do now? I feel doomed.
