Trump Indictment Watch Begins, Grand Jury is Done
The grand jury looking into whether Donald Trump committed crimes when he tried to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia has wrapped up meaning indictment watch has begun. Charges could be coming against the former president any day, or maybe not at all, but we should at least know soon as it pertains to this case. A former American president getting indicted would be unchartered territory and it’s unclear how the public would react. Certainly, a good portion of the country would be happy with the decision since Trump does not enjoy high popularity numbers. However, his base would be furious, pretend it’s all part of the latest Democratic witch hunt, and a nefarious attempt to put a stop to his nascent 2024 campaign. Regardless of the implications, the decision of whether to indict Trump should be based on the facts, putting the politics and the secondary implications aside, and going by what the law says.
Boebert vs Greene UGLY, Calls Her "Unhinged"
In recent weeks, there has been a growing divide between two radical Republican Congresswomen, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. The latest update is that Boebert has referred to Greene as “unhinged” and her backers have urged her to tone down her rhetoric. Greene, in turn, has criticized Boebert's approach to selecting a speaker and has accused her of obstructing rather than trying to make progress. This goes to show a splinter within MAGA and represents two different bets for the future of the Trump movement. Greene is reorienting herself as a voice of reason within the Republican Party, having supported Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker. Boebert, on the other hand, is going all in with a more hardline, ultra-MAGA stance and is positioning herself as part of the group of defectors along with Matt Gaetz who believe they know what is best for the country. The Republican Party was already split between the establishment and the MAGA crowd, and now we see the MAGA movement splintering from within.

Impaired Trump Claims Biden Convinced Putin to Invade
Donald Trump recently gave an impaired and confused speech during which he made the claim that Joe Biden convinced Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine. Trump said speaking about Biden, “we have a man who has no mind left. And his mind in prime time wasn't any good but he had no mind left. And this is the guy negotiating for us. We have a man that convinced Putin to go into Ukraine.” Trump claims that if he were still president, Putin wouldn’t have invaded, which doesn’t make sense given how deferential to Putin Trump was and how Russia cemented its influence in eastern Ukraine during the Trump presidency. Trump went on to complain about the mother of Ashli Babbitt getting arrested for protesting her daughter’s death at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. This is part of Trump’s attempt to make Babbitt into a martyr and pretend like he has nothing to apologize for regarding the events of that day.

RECORD Number of Americans Employed, Biden Approval KEEPS CLIMBING
Last week, it was reported that a record number of Americans (159,244,000) were employed in December of 2022. This could be interpreted as a good sign for the economy and for President Biden’s job performance but leaving the analysis that simple would be dishonest as there is a lot more that goes into it than the raw jobs total alone. The population of the United States continues to grow, so it makes sense that the number of people working will also grow, even if the labor participation rate remains constant. Furthermore, the number of people working does not always accurately reflect the health of the economy. Labor force participation could be high because people don’t have enough savings to retire, need to supplement their family income, or need to work in lieu of going to school. All of these metrics would indicate a bad economy, even though the number of people working could be high. That’s why it’s always important to always look at the sum total of economic indicators, considering things like consumer confidence, inflation, wages, and stock market performance in addition to job creation and labor force participation.

In the wake of the Jan. 6 riots, there is no doubt that over time, there will be many more riots when the Republicans lose to Democrats. Every single thing that happened on Jan. 6 will (continue to) be orchestrated by the far right, with Trump at the helm. Never again will we see a peaceful transfer of power in ANY of the races, not just presidential.
