Today is Monday, September 22, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today's show.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk's memorial service was held yesterday in Arizona. At his funeral, his wife Erika Kirk delivered an emotional message, forgiving the man responsible for his death. Donald Trump also spoke, saying Kirk “did not hate his opponents,” but added that he himself did, and “did not want the best for them.” Trump adviser Stephen Miller told mourners they were part of an “army” that would prevail over “wickedness and evil.”
In a late-night press conference, Trump fielded questions on accountability in his administration, saying “everybody” should be investigated for corruption. He commented on vaccines, comparing childhood doses to shots “you’d give to a horse,” and warning of risks from “the wrong stuff” being included in them.
Meanwhile in California, Governor Gavin Newsom signed the No Secret Police Act, banning law enforcement officers in the state from wearing masks to conceal their identity except in riot gear or undercover work. Newsom said masked federal agents participating in deportation raids represented “Trump’s America” and called the practice authoritarian.
In Washington, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has sharply reduced her public appearances. Records show that from January through July she held at least one briefing per week, often more, but in August she gave only three, and in September just one, skipping multiple weeks entirely.
Trump also sat down for an interview with Fox News host Steve Doocy, where he suggested Murdoch family members may end up owning TikTok, joked about cartel leaders and late-night comedians, and said Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had “spunk” but “bad philosophy.”
Trump’s border chief Tom Homan was caught on FBI video allegedly accepting a $50,000 cash bribe at a restaurant. The Justice Department under Trump later shut down the investigation, with the Acting Attorney General calling it a “deep state” operation. Homan remains in his post overseeing deportations.
Trump has also drawn attention with recent remarks about the press. He claimed negative media coverage of him was “illegal,” saying news networks turn positive stories into negative ones.
Finally, Josh Shapiro, Governor of Pennsylvania, joins us to discuss political violence in the wake of the Kirk assassination, free speech, discerning fact from fiction online, and much more.
On the Bonus Show today:
