I'm old enough to remember and be fooled by NIXON'S SECRET PLAN TO END THE VIETNAM WAR. WE ARE NOT FOOLED. THERE IS NO REPUBLICAN HEALTH PLAN, which they have been working on since 2015. LOL
Yup, all the felon has done is divide the country and tear down the institutions we all depend upon, incite a coup and other crimes and get away with it all!!
The other difference between Nixon and trump is that Republicans under Nixon told him he needed to resign. I've never seen anything like the cult that calls themselves the Republican party these days. :/
I do believe as my grandma said " they're all crooked nixon just wasn't smart enough not to get caught!" I think he also had somewhat of a soul which the FELON does not!!
Nixon didn't realize anything. He was visited by several Republican senators who told him in no uncertain terms that they had the votes to impeach him so he might as well resign and try to salvage some dignity. Of course, that was when repubs knew the definition of dignity, before they all scrambled for spots up in the presidential rectum.
Canadian here...and like you I don't get it either...the indifference, lack of action, just watching the descent into dictatorship happen in slo mo...weasel Stephen Miller will pull the trigger on the Insurrection Act giving Trump unlimited plenary powers before the end of the year unless you&your fellow Americans push back. Get cracking! Otherwise in fascist slug Trump's world Canada will be the Ukraine to America's Russia. Is that what you want?
I agree 100% with you but, sadly, Americans are majority stupid, dumb, imbecilic, cretinous, moronic twats. I'm in the UK and sadly can't help America, but Canada has stood by and supported Britain in our hours of need and I hope and pray that we would do the same for you if the need ever arises.
I have come to think that tearing down the East Wing of the White House is part of Mt. Trump's little revenge plan. It wouldn't come as a big surprise to me if his ballroom was never completed, and the $250 million he demanded for the construction of the ballroom went straight into his pocket (it probably will anyway).
You're probably right,my dear friend.Trump's just sneaky enough to want to do that.GODwilling,he will be soon REMOVED because of his apidly ADVANCING DEMENTIA,thanks to the 25th Amendment!
It's ironic that the symbol for the Democratic party is a donkey, because that Republican elephant (you know -- the one with the orange makeup) is looking more and more like an ass every day. :)
No. Not "majority". Not even close. I've studied various surveys over the years and reached a conclusion years ago that only about 25-30% of Americans are irredeemably stupid. The Venn diagram of trump supporters and the 30% MINORITY of morons who believe in everything from Bigfoot to alien abduction to anti-vax propaganda looks like a circle, and that's good news. All the polling indicates his hardcore base is also 25-30%, which validates my estimation of the number of braindead morons we have to contend with once he's out of office. We need to study up on what Germany did to denazify their country and embark on a campaign of demagafication. Perhaps we can use the detention centers magats love so much, or the rehab farms RFK is proposing, as re-education camps. These people will need some serious deprogramming.
Thank you. I hope it doesn't come to that. But it looks bleak. And yes. A lot of Americans stick their heads in the sand but never fail to complain when things go wrong. WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!
We never act proactively except in the realm of the military. Other than that, we're a reactionary country. Nothing is ever done until a disaster strikes. Trumpism is no exception. A lot of people will pull their heads from their asses once they've been reduced to eating dirt. Magats only learn through personal pain and suffering. I hate the collateral damage it will involve, but I say bring on the pain. The last time was in '29 and it was 50 years before republicans were given power again. Time for a refresher course. Too bad it'll take down so may innocents as well.
From Australia, we heartily agree with you. The Trump regime is a disgrace, a smear upon the free world, and a boon for our autocratic foes. A lot of Americans are doing their best under horrific circumstances, but it's not enough. Their more powerful corporate elites, along with fearful conservatives, need to learn from history: siding with a dictator will not protect their wealth. Quite the opposite. Kleptocrats, such as Putin, eventually take over companies, jail the owners, and absorb the profit for themselves.
It's not up to Stephen Miller to give trump any powers. Our biggest problem in this country are the 6 black-robed fascist overlords who were installed after a $600M orchestrated campaign by Heritage, the Koch Bros', and similar anti-American, White Supremacist, Christian Nationalist Cretins hellbent on giving trump and his ilk kingly powers. We need time to take back congress so we can expand the court.
The solution to pollution is dilution, I always say.
Another Canadian watching in terrorised disbelief!
But we, in the rest of what is eft of the free world, have been warning Americans of what has been evident to us from the get-go (talking even before his first term), but thy didn't believe us. Everything (and more and even worse than) what we predicted and warned against has, unfortunately, come to pass.
I say "terrorised disbelief" in the sense of what it feels like to be geographically located immediately adjacent to this massive evil.
I believe that the mental illness that trump suffers from most is the fact that he’s psychotic. He doesn’t think like real people. He also thinks that real people are like him. No empathy, just cold reasoning. If he orders people to kill others it doesn’t even occur to him that people will die or how many. He doesn’t know or care. The fact that he turned his back on the man who passed out in his own office, while half a dozen people rushed to help him, is a clue that trump is not human.
An auto parts manufacturer is laying off 80+ employees due to uncertainty within the industry. World wide companies aren't asking for their components, getting them elsewhere. Working in this industry myself, we always knew we were one of many manufacturing businesses, around the world, making similar parts. Many companies reporting major losses in profits this quarter. That isn't fake news.
I have always wondered why the USA stands by and allows China to take over much of our manufacturing. In fact it encouraged it by letting China join the WTO and ignores copy and patent rights. In no way can we compete just on labor costs alone.
In a perfect world, economically every country would do what they does best . But it is not a perfect world. Allowing one country to destroy the productive capacity of another is a recipe for disaster. We are seeing the fallout of that now.
China now takes USA products, copies it and sells is in direct competition to the original product on Amazon. So much for quality control.
The automotive parts example is perfect. I needed an alternator for my car. All I can find is Chinese made/refurbed. No idea what the quality is. The price is not all that cheap as there is no meaningful competition.
Back in the 1970s my 90 yr old grandmother was very politically savvy and she read the newspaper cover to cover daily with her 8th grade education. She told me then that China would bury us but from within....amazing prophecy and amazing woman! She was right!
Not sure what the basis of that was. I was US Army soldier stationed in Germany along with 500k others guarding against Soviet invasion.
Are you suggesting life under Russians would be better than the west? If so you can get great deals on property in Donbas or Crimea. Bring a donkey for transportation and lots of bottled water.
No one knows the future, but it appears the Chinese are on the leading edge of it. They have an inexhaustible supply of money to buy whatever they want. They have unbelievable productive capacity and cheap labor. What they cannot buy they just steal and make it cheaper and sell it back to us.
We keep hoping that human rights and the rule of law will save us, but now, not so sure.
Thanks, real eye opener. Those who ignore history, doomed to repeat it.
No doubt USA is overcommitted in every area. No one wants to sacrifice, so in the end it will be forced upon us.
I was wondering how to pay the national debt. What great timing. We have the master of bankrupcies as President. It appears he aims to use this skill throwing money (we do not have) to Argentina at the expense of farmers and ranchers. They will demand another bailout like they got in his first presidential term.
What happens when the interest on the debt exceeds all income? Our bank account savings, investments in the stock market and all other assets could well be confiscated.
I recommend reading 'Autocracy, Inc' by Anne Applebaum, who contends that we are no longer dealing with separate enemies. That was last century. This time it's not about religion or race or even politics. It's about corruption. Sure, Russia and China are leading the carnage, with their proxies doing damage, but as you say, it's also happening from within democracies or semi-autocracies sliding back & forth. Soft power did not work. That was an illusion. Time to organise ourselves against disinformation, smear campaigns, money laundering etc. We need to do it in a united, systematic way: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Scandinavia and so on. Britain needs to rejoin the EU (Putin funded BREXIT) and clean up its monarchy / oligarchy. As for America …
Yes I believe world is run in parallel with good and mafia evil. Want evidence of money laundering. Go to Amazon search for recliner chairs, sort on high dollar to low. You will be shocked at the astronomical prices. It is the same for all products. Ebay is the same if you look up anything high to low. It is so obvious that even cheap junk is sold at sky high prices. I found someone selling a paint brush for $215k. Seriously????
In fairness, it's common practice to put a stupid price on an out of stock item rather than removing the listing. That's why you get insane prices on some things.
Your grandmother was a testimony to the fact that wisdom beats the hell out of 'education' hands down. And it's definitely a shame so much effort has gone into dumbing down education.
Abe Lincoln also did not have a college degree, but seems to be one of the smartest to have ever held the office. Makes you wonder about the quality of education especially when it comes with life time student loan obligation.
Manufacturing economies suck, especially in a union and environmentally hostile country like US. China is far better at mfg than they used to be. They've had a learning curve, but they've got it down now. I'm old enough to remember when evreything was made in the US. I couldn't afford anything and the quality of what I could afford was generally poor. Besides, do you really want to pay $1000 for a vacuum cleaner that outlives you? That's what my mother had to do.
Any lack of quality reflected in Chinese goods is a direct result of American companies insisting on "Cheap" as their main specification. I've dealt directly with Chinese manufacturers. They'll lie their asses off to you and tell you what you want to hear, but in the end, if you specify quality they can provide it. If you want cheap, they'll do that too. Makes no difference to them.
I can count a dozen hobbies and interests I could never afford to pursue until China began mfg everything. So, it's not just an economic issue, it's a quality of life issue as well. It's all well and good to want US manufacturing as long as you're in the top 20% who can afford to indulge in your nationalistic instincts. Most people can't and moving mfg here to the home of corporate greed won't change that.
Showing my age, but we did not know what quality was until Japan got its act together making cars and tools. We just accepted that the problems like oil leaks and cracked exhaust manifolds was just the standard for Ford and GM. Japan still leads in quality. US auto industry is collapsing and I fear China may come in and pick up the pieces.
Agree I worked in a union shop and the silent agenda was not to go to fast or be too good so we could get in the hours. Bad workers were protected and good ones encouraged to leave.
The car industry is kind of a separate case from manufacturing in general. A friend had a tiny little early 70's Honda I rode with 3 other guys to HS in. Later, I had a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix so, yeah, I agree, Japan had to show us how it was done.
OTOH, who got the benefits of all that union busting? Certainly not the workers or consumers. It's no accident that our "K" economy went into hyperdrive at the same time the unions began losing power. So, I'll have to disagree with you on unions in general. Some, especially Autoworkers and Teamsters, had problems that could've been fixed without stagnating wages and eliminating benefits at the same time the 0.1% saw unprecedented wealth accumulation. But that was the real motivation for union busting in the first place. (See the 1974 "Powell Memo)
We should reserve domestic manufacturing for strategically important goods like machine tools, aviation parts and high tech equipment, etc. Home appliances, sporting goods, electronic gadgets, and fancy lingerie ain't that. I wouldn't want 90% of manufacturing that happens to happen here, and that includes virtually all consumer products other than, perhaps, cars.
I was 50 before I could afford to furnish a house decently, just as one more example. Let them make furniture for rich people here, because they're the only people who could afford it. The idea of "competition" driving down prices on US goods is BS. It didn't happen then and it won't happen now. It's just more magic beans the 0.1% are trying to sell the yokels.
It does pain me to see mgt make millions and workers make peanuts. I do not understand why GM/Ford sucks up to the shareholders and not the workers who make and maintain the vehicles. Recently, Fords Jim Farley was crying for 6000 more auto techs. Suggesting these are $120k jobs. Not true, maybe $60k. All the car mfgs treat techs as disposable slaves. For example all the truck engine failures of GM/Ford and Toyota will be done by dealer techs not being paid for the full time it takes. Warranty time is far less than customer pay time. In otherwords the techs have work free on warranty work to keep their jobs.
It's the fiduciary responsibility for a corp. to "maximize shareholder value". They can be sued if doing the right thing deprives shareholders of potential profit. That's the law. They MUST pay workers the bare minimum it takes to not hurt the business by having everyone quit. That's the ironic thing. With few exceptions, corporations are legally prohibited from doing the right thing if it risks profit.
Yes, horrible. In Michigan Dana Corp Automotive parts has declining orders for electric cars, thus they just folded...not sure what components they made but something not needed with slowing EV sales...SAD
Having bought Amazon;/Chinese parts that are junk and probably conterfeit, shocked GM/Ford are not suing Amazon for selling unauthorized parts. Probably because many of the parts are made on the same production line. I shiver when I see GM parts box made in China. Quality control has gone out the window. Is is possible our nuke arsenal parts come from the same?
Why not? As you see, American companies use Chinese manufacturers for everything. Having dealth with Chinese manufacturers, I put 90% of any blame for bad quality on Americans who specify crap. This isn't the 70's when China didn't know how to do a good job. They can make those GM parts at least as good as Americans. It's up to GM to decide if it's worth an extra 0.02% growth in their stock price to sell shiit.
I'm wearing a $150 Chinese mechanical watch right now that outperforms and has better specs than anything made in Europe or the US that sells for under $700. That same watch could be (and likely is) imported here under a private label and it would sell all day for $500.
There's a tendency to conflate corporate greed and poor QC. That's not an accident.
I am wearing my 3rd beloved Casio watch that sells for less than $30. Back plate says it is made in China. No way could it be made in US for that price. The idea that tariffs will bring watchmaking to the US is a joke. Watchmaking is a dying industry in the US as most watches are now digital.
Not sure what GM does for QC for parts made in China. They go there because the production is cheaper. The issue for the US auto repair industry is that a lot of Chinese made auto parts are crap and have been copied illegally. Auto videos on YT, techs are not happy with Chineseium parts. The QC of those parts is not under the purview of GM or Ford. Amazon should be held to higher standards for quality of imported parts. In their defense, Amazon does allow users to comment on the quality of their purchases.
It's the same old same old. You get what you pay for. If GM is having any parts made in China, they have full control over the quality of those parts. The fact that some other factory, or the same factory, is churning out copies with fewer QC processes is an entirely different issue. All I'm sayig is that if Ford wanted something made in China, they could have it made there just as well as it could be made here. Their savings would be commensurate with how much they compromised, if at all, on quality and specs.
Watchmaking on an industiral scale is never coming back to the US, but it's far from a dying industry. In fact, mechanical analog watches are making something of a comeback. Go see what's available on Ali-Express. You'll be amazed. Some people have collections worth thousands and millions and they'd practically adopt someone who could work on them. A qualified watch tech who could work on high end watches can write his own ticket. He can work for a single client full time if he wants. I've heard rich people crying the blues over not being able to find anyone to work on their multi-million dollar watch collections. It takes proper training, but it's not like going to medical school. Beats the shit out of being an auto mechanic.
There are also people, some on Youtube, who make pretty big bucks finding and repairing high end mechanical watches. Nothing like finding an old broken watch at a flea market for $100, fixing it and selling it for $5-10K. I used to do that with old Gillette Razors and there aren't many razor mechanics around either.
The thing about the level of watches that I have are that I can just swap out a movement relatively cheaply. It's rarely worth diagnosing and fixing one. A Chinese clone of a well known Swiss movement whose patent expired is just over $100. Even an authentic Japanese movement from Seiko can be had for around $100 and swapping a whole movement is easy-peazy.
Automatic analog watches are classy and fascinating. Digital watches are for peasants. LOL.
The only secret is that the FELON is DEMENTED and they're keeping him propped up because all will crash if he is out! We the people are MAD AS HELL AND WERE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE! And the guardians of PEDOPHILES party know it!! So get ready you lying CRETANS!! Your reign of terror and stupidity is OVER!!
THANKS TO DAVID AND OTHER INDEPENDENT FRIENDS AND PODCASTERS!! WE'RE WITH YOU IN THIS HORRENDOUS HOUR!!
It’s hard to take a group of pathological liars at face value for anything they might say, but do pay attention to what they do, because it’s the proof of the pudding!
You need to pay attention to what they say if only because, with repubs, every accusation is a confession and every prediction of what we'll do is telegraphing what they'll do if we give them the chance.
And look up while you are at it. Waters was second fiddle to Bill O'Reilly and stayed that way when O'Reilly left. Shows the poor quality that Fox maintains.
And thank YOU for being with us today. I look forward to the full programme that you outlined; yes, please DO keep it.
WONDERFUL NEWS that Canada has said tootle-loo (British expression meaning "bye bye") to your president.
KEEP SAFE and KEEP REAL!
(Aside re keeping real: There is a new article in the scientific journal _Nature_ reporting the detection of "fake scientists" having published actual articles in actual journals and having served as "peer reviewers" of real manuscripts submitted for real publication. The scientific community had better be scared silly by this hurry-up-quick and the general population should be terrified by this. I fear that my former colleagues may have waited too long to deal with this [delusionally thinking that AI is such a handy little innocent tool to make their lives easier and faster so that they don't even have to think anymore]. SIGH!)
The evilness is so massive and obviously demonstrated by this fascist DJT Regime! Something has to be done and the midterms has to bring accountability and his prison sentence.
Accountability begins when Democrats gain control of the WH, Judicial Branch, and Congress! DJT is doing everything possible to destroy the Republican Party, our Government, and our Country.
True!! But that will never happen with a corrupt president and corrupt Administration. This is DJT‘s purpose to enter the Political Sphere: to destroy the Republican Party. This is, unknowingly, the purpose of his involvement in our Government. What DJT intended was not this but a more malicious attempt to become richer.
They are also overturning Biden’s pardons and executive orders siting he was to mentally impaired and by using the autopen wasnt well enough informed.
While this diabolically hypocritical it does leave the door open for reversing everything Trump has signed and those pardoned due to severe cognitive impairment.
On another note what if working people from all levels and position call in sick on Nov. 1 in solidarity to their country and all if its vulnerable citizens. The GOP are playing chicken with hunger and homelessness. Call them on their bluff. They cant fire everyone, they cant arrest everyone, they cant survive without the citizens labor AI or not.
Hiring an architect and having the design and schematics are done long before any ground breaking and demolition... I don't get it. Either Trump has no clue although how could he not being in the 'biz' for decades or the media ain't reporting it straight.
Trump has no clue about nor any interest in the detail. “Detail be damned, just build the Fu**ing thing!” He acts first then, when challenged, sues and pays lawyers to pick up the pieces.
It was strategery. Do the most damage quick so nobody can stop you and undo it. Legality be damned. That's the way he runs his whole regime. He just breaks the law and ignores judges until whatever he's doing gets to his pet fascists. Meanwhile, even if they can't bring themselves to cover his ass, his goal has been achieved while the process dragged on.
Godwilling,I HOPE & Pray that creepy Trump may be Removed this month by Means of the 25th Amendment thanks to his clealy accelerating Dementia, even if it takes a blessed Miracle if God wouldn;t mind, please!
I'm old enough to remember and be fooled by NIXON'S SECRET PLAN TO END THE VIETNAM WAR. WE ARE NOT FOOLED. THERE IS NO REPUBLICAN HEALTH PLAN, which they have been working on since 2015. LOL
Yes only tricky dick realized he'd get crushed if he didn't resign! This idiot FELON is so delusional he'll never leave! Stupidity is his MO!
Yes. His daddy dear taught him well. I'm reading "LUCKY LOSER" 450+ pages and I'm only a few pages into it and can already see the resemblance.
I read that too, and now I can see that DJT comes by his crookedness honestly - and that's the only honest thing about him!
At least Nixon accomplished some good during his presidency and resigned - two things the felon has not done!
Yup, all the felon has done is divide the country and tear down the institutions we all depend upon, incite a coup and other crimes and get away with it all!!
And Rob every penny we have
The other difference between Nixon and trump is that Republicans under Nixon told him he needed to resign. I've never seen anything like the cult that calls themselves the Republican party these days. :/
I do believe as my grandma said " they're all crooked nixon just wasn't smart enough not to get caught!" I think he also had somewhat of a soul which the FELON does not!!
I agree with your grandma, Kate. The current resident of the oval office is soulless!
Agree big time.
💯 yup when the GOP actually cared...it's obvious that they're just in it for power and $ which is always the way it's been only on steroids now!!
the crushing will come...
Thank you for paying attention.
Too many in our country just bury their heads in the sand.
How can people pretend this is not happening? I just don't get it.

It could be 1812 all over again….but this time you don’t have to burn the White House - Trump is destroying it by himself, ha…
The UK returning a WWII favour to Canada to fend off a former Allie, it beggars belief.
He was always a traitor, a mobster scumbag, serving Putin, MBS and other tyrants. Smashing the White House would have caused them to cheer.
You're probably right,my dear friend.Trump's just sneaky enough to want to do that.GODwilling,he will be soon REMOVED because of his apidly ADVANCING DEMENTIA,thanks to the 25th Amendment!

💯 correct!
They also are on the leading edge of stealing ideas.
Your grandmother was a testimony to the fact that wisdom beats the hell out of 'education' hands down. And it's definitely a shame so much effort has gone into dumbing down education.
TOTALLY!! She lived through so much of our history! And would be upset to see she was right!
You mean sabotaged EV sales.
LOL.
Peasantly yours.
Lighten up. It's just a joke. Everyone has digital watches and the Casios are the king of value.

I live in Hamburg but I follow you and Meidas Touch. I know that you live with the thread and I admire your Courage. 👍🤗
Open wide jesse
And look up while you are at it. Waters was second fiddle to Bill O'Reilly and stayed that way when O'Reilly left. Shows the poor quality that Fox maintains.
What would Fox do without Trump?
SIGH!)
AI will stop everyone's need to think - and THAT is terrifying.
Yuppers!
But will that matter in a world where nothing is real?
The evilness is so massive and obviously demonstrated by this fascist DJT Regime! Something has to be done and the midterms has to bring accountability and his prison sentence.
Accountability begins when Democrats gain control of the WH, Judicial Branch, and Congress! DJT is doing everything possible to destroy the Republican Party, our Government, and our Country.
A lot of people deserve to be jailed
They cant fire everyone, they cant arrest everyone, they cant survive without the citizens labor AI or not.
my thoughts too ..... every citizen goes on strike
So .. there’s a plan ? Not just a concept of a plan ??
You do have a nack of being funny. Thank you for letting have a smile now and then when reading your comments. 😌
Godwilling,I HOPE & Pray that creepy Trump may be Removed this month by Means of the 25th Amendment thanks to his clealy accelerating Dementia, even if it takes a blessed Miracle if God wouldn;t mind, please!
It's time for the Orange ManBaby to go Night Night.
