I don’t understand why we haven’t started impeachment proceedings on this madman who is clearly mentally declining

He should have been 25’d months ago when our Illinois Governor was on TV saying it. twice! But instead, Trump sent in more national guard - which shows you guys loss of his faculties in itself.

this whole government gets creepier by the day

If the political will existed to use the 25th Amendment, it should also be sufficiently available for impeachment. Yes, Trump was impeached twice, but never convicted, each time avoiding final judgement by a slim margin (if I'm remembering correctly, in one case it was the vote of Mitch McConnell that saved him). It's really a matter of who is able and willing to take him down--his own cabinet (25th amendment) or a coalition of Republican and Democratic legislators (senators vote to convict after House members bring articles of impeachment). Either way, the office-holders responsible will only react to a stiff wind blowing in a certain direction; so again, it's up to the general public to put the pressure on.

I don't understand why we have to wait for the House of Representatives to start gathering all the reasons for his impeachment, all the evidence... Most of it is in the open, part of the public record. Much of it was done publicly. We do not have to wait for a court decision when the law is clear. Impeachment does not require, and in fact (with DoJ policy) does not allow for a court decision on Trump's unfitness for office. SCOTUS has proven itself to be corrupt and not to be trusted in it's judgements on 'political' issues.

We the people can gather the evidence, put it together in a way that makes clear how many times he did each kind of bad thing. Previously it only took one crime, one abuse of power, one 'affair' to justify an impeachment, but Trump has been truly prolific and the numbers are huge.

He was already impeached twice! And WTF is the point cause there was no punishment. And I really don't understand why he was even allowed to run again?

Douglas Gilligan's avatar

You are right. Per the 14th amendment, Section 3, multiple courts he should not have been able to run. SCOTUS interfered and declared that since congress had not passed a law for this specific situation, without all states declaring Trump could not run, NO state could take his name off the primary ballots... But the constitution is clear when it declares a person violating that amendment CAN NOT HOLD OFFICE. It did not specifically declare anything about elections, but it does mean, if we could trust SCOTUS, we could simply have a state (or more) sue to have him removed from office.

twice impeached is always about retribution, nasty ten-year-old mind set, nasty punishing of people with real morals, honesty and lawbiding citizens.

why aren't there any consequences for all the laws that the Trump regime has committed? the Supreme Court (6 of them) need to be held accountable for their treasonous acts against the Constitution. The bar association needs to strip some of the Supreme Court judges licenses away.

Interesting idea about the Bar removing their licenses as lawyers. Would be symbolic, but effective. Should have the various Circuit's Chief Judges get together an hold an ethics investigation on (at least two of) the Justices. Again symbolic, but effective.

The Trump administration is not going to hold itself accountable because they are working under one man, not several different departments... and enough of our SCOTUS is corrupt.

New elections (2026, 2028) if we can get enough votes, can allow us to make a real difference, if we can plan for success, so we do not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...

When Trump or one of his minions attack a reporter rather than answer the question, the Reporter should give a big smile then boldly, appreciatively THANK Trump (or others) for their answer. Because an attack instead of an answer IS an answer. It says "Nothing I can say will be either credible or useful to me and I do not like that you even raised the question because it makes me look bad, so I change the story by attacking you..."

We need to get out of the mindset that only when they state a clear admission of guilt can we declare they are clearly guilty. None of this is going to court, or if it eventually does, more evidence can be uncovered. Most people get convicted in court because of the evidence, and often that evidence is circumstantial. We should not rely on them admitting in court they are guilty.

I have seen the trend of the moving goalposts, where unless we can get Trump to admit his motives, his criminal intent, openly and explicitly then we really cannot say he is guilty.

Give me a break! Trump and his minions accuse people of horrendous crimes without a scrap of evidence, often outright lying about evidence. Democrats come in with a truckload of hard evidence and are countered with attacks, claims of innocence, incredibly bogus legal theories (I DO NOT CARE if this corrupt SCOTUS buys into them, they are still bogus) and then people sigh and say, "But intent is part of the law and we can not prove (beyond any possibility of doubt, and even then...) that they had absolute intent of illegality.

In real courts, the bar is set at "beyond a reasonable doubt". Not 'to an absolute certainty'. They also prosecute for 'obstruction of justice' because sometimes the criminal's efforts to remove evidence or interfere in the investigation is successful.

Reporters should be focused on the TRUTH and every attack on the reporter is evidence to any body watching. Stop giving a convicted Felon, a proven liar, Rapist, Con-man... the benefit of the doubt. At this stage, with his track record (in and out of court) it is only in court we should presume his innocence until proven otherwise. Trump lies so much it is better odds that something he said was a lie than that it was true.

Take his behavior as an answer and tell him with a big grin and a THANK YOU that we hear his admission of guilt.

I think it's better to wait! Republicans have swallowed a Cyanide pill named Trump's MAGA, it's going to kill them politically, so no impeachment needed!
