President Trump recently addressed questions on the Ukraine conflict ahead of his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska. When asked whether he would support reducing NATO troops in Europe, including in Poland, to negotiate a peace deal with Russia, Trump replied, ‘That hasn’t been put before me. I’ll think about that for later.’ He was also asked whether he would consider offering Russia access to rare earth minerals as an incentive in the conflict. His response: ‘We’re going to see what happens.’
Here at home, tension is growing in Los Angeles over masked, unmarked ICE and Border Patrol vehicles operating in the city. Officials defend the actions as part of a crackdown on undocumented immigration, but masks and unmarked cars blur the line between lawful enforcement and secret policing. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino said, ‘We’re here making Los Angeles a safer place, since we don’t have politicians who can do that.’
Meanwhile, documents show ICE plans to nearly double detention space for immigrants this year, intensifying debates over enforcement and humanitarian concerns.
On technology, Trump recently signed an executive order mandating that federal agencies only use AI systems adhering to principles of ideological neutrality, effectively banning models incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The White House ordered a comprehensive review of Smithsonian museums and exhibitions to ensure alignment with what it describes as ‘American ideals.’ Vice President JD Vance, a Smithsonian board member, will oversee the review, which will examine major institutions, including the National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
