The Blue Wave is coming

Douglas Gilligan's avatar

Like any tsunami, it takes a lot of force to generate waves that high, which Trump is providing. But we do not want merely a wave, another example of the ebb and flow of politics. If we want this to matter, we need to show how Democrats can make the very real changes to make a difference. It will help that Trump will become a cautionary tale alongside that of Hitler, that we teach our young for generations to come, but to show the REAL difference that matters, we need to fix our system that continues to spiral all the wealth to the top, faster and faster every decade.

Excellent. The ONLY person whom Trump is deluding is HIMSELF.

Robert Parker's avatar

I would argue that Trump is deluding himself and those who are still strongly support him after his disastrous second try to be a dictaor.

Jean Conley's avatar

Yes....combination of Gestapo/right-wing fanatics and yes, COMMUNISTS.

Douglas Gilligan's avatar

You may notice, per the polls, those opposed to Trump are in the 54% to 60% with over 30% still approving of what he is doing. We need to not delude ourselves that everyone else is seeing what we are seeing. Trump has a whole 'Conservative media ecosystem' supporting him for their own selfish or cowardly reasons. While this is a nice 'lead', it should be much larger based on what is actually happening. Only as the Republican Politicians discover how they will be removed from power because they support or even tolerate Trump, will they turn on him.

Remember, people would rather believe a simple, pleasant lie that says they are wonderful people, than the ugly reality that their votes created a disaster. We do not need to rub their noses in their failings, but rather lead them to 'discover' how Trump LIED to them.

Russ's avatar

What's wrong with rubbing noses? They need to feel as much pain as they inflict. Being nice is not working. Dems are not dealing with a fair minded Repub party. Start shaming the corporations that support them.

A major priority for Dems is to trim the corporate money going into politics on both sides.

Douglas Gilligan's avatar

I was referring to the public, the voters. My goal is to not perpetuate another forever war, as happened with the Civil war. My goal to to convert, especially those who voted for Trump out of ignorance. As far as politicians and corporations that are acting in bad faith, I agree with you.

Russ's avatar

Trying to sway hardcore Trump followers away from him, I do not think is possible. They probably have miserable lives and misery likes company. If you can blame your problems on someone or something else, makes it easier to live with it.

The individual person is small potatoes. The corporations have enabled this political madness so I feel they are a more realistic target to work on. Both sides have abused it. Dems spent $1billion and are on the hook for more so they are not innocent either. Cut the money off and perhaps politics may throttle down so we can get back to sanity.

We will keep the lights on the damage Trump has done to the "Economy that was the Envy of the World" during Biden's Administration in October 2024.

He is predictable 🙄 SSDD. Deviation from facts is a daily "must do" for him.

He wears failure like a shining crown because when one can only use hate and violence, demonization of others to achieve safety from prison, and ride on that foul wind, of COURSE he falters and flubs in everything else. Everything he touches, dies. He has killed the Republican Party. Destroyed alliances. Inserts himself into foreign affairs trying to look like a peace-keeping “savior” when he can’t even govern himself or his own country.

As republicans lose bids for local and state seats and offices, the challenge will be to keep that momentum long after and keep them out. How to do that? Hold Dems accountable in those positions, unlike the republicans who have held them. Those are the positions who must hold the line and stop his attacks against the people who disagree with him. Keep his sycophant cultists out of every position of community councils and boards, judgeships, from schools to libraries down to who gets to be elected Sheriff. That’s how his rot creeps throughout this country. His racists and perverts get a toehold and they climb higher into power, dragging their stench, incompetence and ignorance with them.

Douglas Gilligan's avatar

How to stay in power? Give the people what they want. Solve the problems they have. Fix the system that keeps them down. Give them the CHANGE they demand to calm their very real and legitimate fears.

Sally M Henry's avatar

I can't believe how delusional Trump is about the economy. Nobody living would agree with his assessment of the economy.

Jean Conley's avatar

Then again, the Dictator Deranged Psychos supporters do.

Trump lies.

Trump lies about everything, though occasionally he leaks the truth.

Trump has no actual competence, so has no ability to solve problems other than by bullying or trying to con other people. Trump is very greedy and so has no motivation to actually help anyone but himself. He will help those who pay him to help them, and will attack those who 'get in his way' which includes those who tell the truth about him.

The fantasy some people have had is that Trump could suddenly start listening to their advice and turn everything around. That is not going to happen. Trump is old and very set in his ways, stubborn about certain things that he cares about. Trump is in serious cognitive decline. He may be under treatment to slow the downward slide with good days and bad days, but it only gets worse.

Do not worry, Trump will continue to make things worse, even as it becomes obvious how it is endangering his presidency. As it gets worse, more people will wake up to how bad it is, and that there really is a difference between Democrats and Republicans. It has to get much worse for enough people to wake up, to enable the changes that must be made in 2027 and 2029.

Problem for Republicans is that in the 2026 and 2028 elections, all their extreme gerrymandering on top of their prior gerrymandering is going to thin their margins that were based on past elections, but in the coming elections the vote is swinging by double digits and while it has been bad for them this year, it will only get worse, for them.

When you teach a child, you give them challenges, you let them experience pain and to avoid certain things. As they overcome those challenges they build skills. A nation is like a child, because while individuals can be smart, in VERY LARGE numbers, people are dumb, like a child. This child has a lesson to learn.

Two of a Grind

Corey and Kristi, how cute!

They deserve one another to boot!

My thoughts just won’t stop!

Which one is The Top?

The Dom or the male prostitute?

Jean Conley's avatar

Giggle, giggle, giggle!!!!! Priceless, J. Cade Keith! Thanks for a great laugh to ease the tension of (unfortunately) putting up with the Dictator Criminal Psycho being in the Oval Office! That's good enough to have patented!

When FL goes Dem, you know shit has hit the fan! TN resident here - disappointed that TN blew it with the last special election....

Jean Conley's avatar

It's about time they got some common sense and did this. I cold never understand why the people of that state generally voted for republiCRAPS--especially since this site has quite a LARGE number (don't know if it's a majority--if not close to it) of senior citizen state...
