Today is Friday, September 26, 2025, and this is your news and preview of today’s show.
In the Oval Office, Donald Trump met with the Turkish President and praised him as “a tough man” and “highly opinionated.” He added that Erdogan “knows about rigged elections better than anybody,” recalling that even while he was “in exile,” the two remained friends.
Trump also faced questions about Russia and NATO. Asked if he still trusted Vladimir Putin, Trump said he would “let you know in about a month from now.” He told reporters that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft if they enter their airspace, and said U.S. help would “depend on the circumstance.” When asked about alleged drone incursions in Denmark, Trump initially responded, “Where? Where is that?” before saying he had no response until more was known.
Trump has also unleashed a series of posts on Truth Social. In one, he accused Democrats of wanting to give free healthcare to undocumented immigrants, provide $500 million to “radical left news outlets,” and keep “dead people” on Medicaid and Social Security rolls. In another, he attacked former Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her “dumb as a rock” and claiming that the 2024 election was not close, but instead a “landslide” victory for him.
In a third post, Trump accused the United Nations of deliberately sabotaging his appearance, calling the escalator stop, teleprompter outage, and sound issues a coordinated attack. He demanded an investigation and said the Secret Service is involved. UN officials maintain there is no evidence of sabotage.
Finally, new polling shows Trump’s approval rating at just 37 percent, with 58 percent disapproving. On the economy, only 34 percent approve of his handling, compared to 63 percent who disapprove. Among independents, approval falls to 31 percent. Nearly one in five Republicans now say they disapprove of his presidency, and more than a quarter disapprove of his handling of the economy. The same survey found 61 percent of Americans expect the economy to worsen in the next year, and 60 percent say their household finances are already declining.
